I don't know if he'll have more pressure on his shoulders in IW! But imho, i think that he should seriously think about getting a coach. As many people here highlighted it before, he's now getting in the 2nd part of his carreer! Things have changed, but what's worrying me is that he acts like he doesn't want to make any change... First of all, his recent post match interview, after he lost to murray, i did not recognize him! It's not such a big deal, i know. And the olympic games stuff... not much more credible! I think that he lost part of his motivation, since he did not won the AO! He has to find some more motivation... And that is what's scaring me the most! May be he should really think about getting a new coach, may be just for these few reasons! Motivation rogii..

And then, Nadal can take over at Miami.

Thanks for explaining. I see that the ATP site must have been showing Roger's points taken away from Dubai before the start of the tournament. I didn't realize that.
I sure hope Roger does all he can to get at least to the SF or F of IW. That used to be his house. He has bad luck with his early round draws though. He'll probably get Murray again!

Yes, and he's looked helpless against Nalby, Djoko and now Murray. I have wondered if his practicing only with some juniors is really enough preparation? Other players either have countrymen who are at the pro level who can give them a work out..... or they play more small tournaments as warm ups.

I agree. Think he needs a coach some time soon. What concerns me is the 'bye' at both Indian Wells and Miami. Rd 2 match is likely to be more difficult than a first round match up and I think Roger needs a first round match. He lacks match play.

... Well, Nadal just made a huge favor for Roger. Wasn't expecting this. He stays at the same point, and IW is next.

Updated after Nadals loss to the Duck. Nadal will now have to win both Indian Wells and Miami, while Federer fails to score more than 130 points.

In terms of rounds in both tournaments to get less than 130 points, when will Roger have to lose for Nadal to be no.1?

Re: Federer vs Nadal & Djokovic ranking points (First post always updated)
It's all written in the first post, but here it is:
POINTS AWARDED AT INDIAN WELLS & MIAMI
W - 500
F - 350
SF - 225
QF - 125
R16 - 75
R32 - 35
R64 - 20
R96 - 5
Just by playing those tournaments Roger gets 20 points in each tournament, since he starts in R64. All he needs is to reach one quarterfinal and he's safe. Or two R16's is enough as well. Even failing that, I have a hard time seeing Nadal winning both tournaments on current form. Infact you could argue that Federer keeps handing Nadal the #1 ranking on a plate, but Nadal refuses to take the offer.

Well, if anything - as long as both Rafa & Rogi manage to secure their rankings, I'm a happy camper. Hell, even if they exchange them I am!

Re: Federer vs Nadal & Djokovic ranking points (First post always updated)
it's crazy how generous Rogi has been, donating so many pts to TFA... who s have been No 1 ages ago... he can't afford to look a gift-horse in the mouth much longer now that HE has more pts to defend than Rogi this month... for a change... but Nole the Great will be the favourite for both after he takes Dubai... [can't see Pandy beating the all-confident-One in SF tomorrow somehow... ]
