But unfortunately that's not true. As mentioned earlier, Nadal can still overtake him as soon as after Dubai.

Yes... but in order for that to happen, doesn't Roger have to lose in the 1st round AND Rafa win the tournament? Correct me if I'm wrong here.

I don't either.

It's even more - Rafa will have to WIN Rotterdam (possible, but I'm not counting on it! ), and Roger will have to lose in Dubai before the QF AND Rafa would have to win it. Don't see this happening myself... but of course, it IS possible. Stranger things have happened during the History of Tennis...

Even IF Roger loses his #1 position during/after Dubai, I have no doubts he'll be able to get it back with IW/Miami, as Rafa has a lot of points to defend over there, while Roger... not so much, thanks to Cañas last year. At times, a Loss can indeed be a 'blessing in disguise!'

Whatever. I don't really mind the #1 and #2 position being exchanged. As long as #3 remains at a reasonable distance of my two favs, you won't hear me complaining.

Right, I forgot Federer won Dubai last year. I thought he didn't have any optionals.

If he wins and Fed loses in the first round, he would still need to get to finals in Rotterdam to do it.

So Federer still has to fight for number one.

You also don't mind Wimbledon's trophies to be exchanged. The question is- what are you doing here?

Trying to keep the spirits up that at least Djoko won't take over either of their positions. Oh, and I won't mind the Wimbly trophy being exchanged, on the premisse that the RG trophy is being exchanged as well.

Don't bother with Djoker, he'll take over their positions eventually.

As for the exchange thing, it's not the truth. As RonE said, FO remained Roland PIGarros last year, yet you'd been cheering for the famous ass during Wimbledon.

I just don't believe in equal anything (love/hate is included). Just reveal who comes first for you, and I'll stop teasing you.

She already has, and you'd like the answer

Seriously, she loves them both and it's a shame she gets so much teasing because of that. I know I've been guilty of it in the past. She was thrilled Roger won Wimbledon! I remember. She was just also sad for The Famous Ass.

Clicked on this thread by mistake, I meant to read the articles thread to see if it was true Roger hasn't even practised since AO

It does seems like it. He said he took a two week vacation and will start practicing soon.

Don't know what to make of his apparent disinterest.

federer was obviously thinking he would win at least 3 slams this year which leads me to believe that he thought he could win the AO even with his illness.

it also tells me he doesnt have much hope/confidence for RG. He is already telling himself that he has many more years to pursue that goal.

Federer's movement has looked terrible at the AO. Its clear that djokovic will continue to be a problem for federer on HC, and that roger should probably hope that they at least split matches in grand slams.

At the usopen, i thought federer's movement was terrible against djoker in the final. Roger just cannot read djoker's shots and just cannot move to the fh side anymore. It was always a minor weakness but now its a glaring one as fed starts to age.

Thanks a lot for this post, Linda. I couldn't goodrep you again, but let it be said you really deserved one for this.

I've been going through nastiness/well-meant (well, that's the question, here... ) teasing by either side of the fence during the past years, and yes, I managed to get used to it (meh... still not so sure of that ). But still, it doesn't feel very comfortable. What The Hell is so bad about loving BOTH of these truly wonderful players, and classy guys to match? I don't get it.

It's so simple: THEY get along together well, why shouldn't WE be able to follow their example?
