Just wanted to say that gosh what we were spoiled in the 80s in tennis-Sweden!A comparision between these four countries and what happened between 88 and 06.One obvious thing is that Spain and Sweden have switched with eachother!Argentina was strong then and still is and hey,where are all the americans today?

well, the tennisworld was smaller back then. all the eastern european states didn't really compete, thhose players nowadays outnumber the western countries easily. they fight to make it to the top whereas the rest finds it hard to cope with this amazingly strog force from the east.

and, to be honest, i guess especially sweden has been pretty spoiled during the 80s and start of the nineties. sweden's got what, 10 millions inhabitants? if you were to measure the success in tennis per capita, i think sweden would be by far the best nation ever to compete.

Swedish tennis enjoyed a boom time back in the 80's with the likes of Wilander, Edberg, Nystrom, Sundstrom, Jarryd etc. A really enjoyable time to look back at in tennis terms, and of course they were following on from Bjorn Borg. Good times indeed!
