I don't think it was a bad loss to Youzhny. There was a stream and I watched some of the match. Youzhny was playing well, and I remember the commentator saying there is something like 118 places between them on the rankings. Marsel played okay. He can mix it with these guys, it's just a matter of him being exposed to this level often enough so that he can learn how he needs to play to get to that standard himself. :)

He withdrew from Marseille.. And yesterday, he will play against Lukas Dlouhy in ATP 500 Dubai qualifying. Match will start at 8.00AM CET on court 1. I'm waiting easy win from Marsel. :) His potential 2nd round oppenents are Stefan Koubek and Michael Lammer.

i've seen the match from livesrtream of bwin
marsel had a lot of chances to pull away, 6-4 plus bp on 2nd set, also bp's on 3rd set, 6-5 30-0 on 3rd set, 3-1 wit mini break on tiebreak, but he lost when niland had his first lead.
bottom line : marsel needs a good coach.

Oh thanks! I hadn't read anything about the change of opponent, and then the scores page that I looked at had the score correct, but had that he had beaten Horansky! :rolls: I didn't know he'd played Dabul instead until I read this post. ;)

Great win for Marsel over Daniel! Hopefully he gets a nice placement in the MD too, and then we will see what our boy can do. :)

EDIT. I just saw that qualifiers have been placed. Marsel has drawn Pablo Cuevas in the first round. I think it's a good draw. :) Good luck Marsel! :bounce: If he wins, he will play Monaco round 2.
