Is there some poker addicts on here ?

I admit being one, I play about 30 hours a week (live and online) and make some money with (though I'm far from making a living with).

I am a huge fan of HSP (High Stakes Poker) cash game show on GSN and NBC poker after dark sit and goes too...

My favorite pro players are: Greenstein, Negreanu, Farah, Ivey and Antonius.

I'm looking forward to playing the WSOP main event in Vegas this year

Only way you can win at poker is playing against your cats.

Im getting back into poker. Re watching the final table from 2014, which was a great final table year. This year's November Nine starts on Sunday night

seriously considered making the 2.5 hour drive to Las Vegas to watch the main event final table in person tomorrow. But there's no guarantee I would get in as the players fanbases would probably be lining up hours early to get in. Plus watching poker for 10 hours or more with no hole cards or commentary would be a grind. I would have to drive home at 4;30 am or so. I'll go with the ESPN hole card coverage

down to 3 left. The champion will be decided tonight. Qui Nguyen, Cliff Josephy and Gordon Vayo.

I was really disappointed to see Rusicka run into trip 8s two straight times that eventually sent him to the rail in 5th. He had been playing so well and was an interesting player to watch. He got unlucky to run into monster hands like that consecutively but he maximized his own damage each time with failed power bluff moves.

Nguyen has been impressive so far.

I'm going to enter a WSOP Circuit event in the Rio next week. Still deciding which day to enter.

I really really don't like the payout structure of these events though. They only pay 10-12% of the field. The WSOP proper events in the summer pay out 15-20% of the field which is much better. My ultimate goal will be to cash but I am very excited to test my skills against some good players. The $365 buy in is hefty but it's better than just playing the $65 daily events at random casinos.

I played event 6 and event 8. I have a limited budget so I was really only intending the play event 6. I busted with about 160 left (out of 329) sometime in level 10. My first table was full or really weird players, lot's of bizarre plays such as calling a pre-flop 4bet with 2/3 and then hitting trip threes on the flop. (luckily his opponent that hand was not me).

I was not satisfied so I stayed at the rio that day, watched the rest of that event from the rail and then slept in my car in the parking garage (again limited budget) and sank $65 into the 9am mega satellite and I was one of the 6 who won the $380 for the seat in event 8 out of 45.

Event 8 was extremely enjoyable for me. My first table was great. Serious players, good play and even though there wasn't any talking there felt like a healthy respect was going around the table. For me, playing in only my 3rd live tournament ever, it was a real thrill to have Carlos Mortensen (2001 main event champion) at that first table. Me and him got into a few pots. The highlight of my trip was probably 4 betting him, making him think on it for a while and eventually laying it down. I built my stack up to close to 30k and was building a good table image. But just before our table broke I gave Mortensen a double up (he had about 11K). I have K/J, the flop comes with a K and two unders. He bets and I call. The turn is a 10 and he moves all in. I think for bit and call and he turns over K/10 for a two pair made on the turn. So that hurt my stack and even though I gained a few back from a couple 3-bets before the table broke, my momentum was slightly shaken.

My new table I had no image and the players were far more aggressive, talkative and a seemingly more edge and prickly. I was able to fight my way though it and balance my pots won/lost enough to stay steady. But eventually I was stung in a few bigger pots and I would eventually bust out with around 120-100 left out of 379.

Great experience for me. Very fun. I liked watching the events and meeting some people (i got to know and meet like 10 people just in 2 days being there). I will try again when I have more money for buy-ins and such.

Nice :yeah:

Live poker is the way to go anyway, bots are beating online NLH nowadays

Yes. There is talk about the game being "solved" by bots. At least at the heads up level. Also online play is full of game theory guys that talk about poker as if its high level astronomical physics or something. There's still those guys in live poker but there are elements to live that don't exist online, elements that I like.

I was looking trough some poker results and I saw "Jason Jung" from Torrance,CA cashing in the monster stack in the Bike Casino in LA WSOP circuit event. I'm pretty sure this is the former ATP pro Jason Jung. Looks like he has had 6 WSOP cashes in his career for $10,482

The main event starts Saturday. I am pumped. This year ESPN and PokerGo are going to stream the whole thing live (pn 30 minute delay) no more of that waiting months to see the tape delay episode nonsense.

I have been down to watch some of the World Series in person a few times this summer, It's pretty cool to see all the bigname pros walking and the Rio amongst the ordinary folk. I have been playing in some of the daily dipstick events too. I was hoping to win enough to be able to enter one of the cheap World Series events (like a 1,500 NLH event) but I have pretty much ended up even money from the buy ins and my winnings.

Have fun. I played the main event back in 2007, it was a nice experience. I also played some of the cheap events in RIO but they had no value as the structure was awful and the fields too big. I rather prefered the small field events in Bellagio and the Venetian. Never went back to Vegas because the withhold 30% from your winnings if you are from Greece so it is just bad business, but still it was fun. Hope you run good and find yourself in the games you want...
