Israel meet Slovenia for just the second occasion in the competition's history. The first tie was back in 1995 when Israel were the victors in a 5-0 whitewash.
While Israel were awarded a bye through the first round Slovenia beat Portugal 3-2 to earn their place with Blaz Kavcic playing a part in each of the three points.

Wow. Another great win for Israel's Davis Cup team. Undoubtedly, the greatest team Israel has ever had in ANY sport.
Slovenian players may have come to the tie in not the best of shapes, but Israelis and clay... they go so terribly together, I would have thought they could lose against cones.
Very important too... a loss would have meant an away tie in Portugal (probably on clay again) and then away at Russia for survival. I don't think Israel could have handled that. Then again, with this team, who knows... they have been pulling off miracles for almost a decade now.
