Viswanathan Anand wins World Chess Championship

BONN, Germany (Reuters) - Indian world chess champion Viswanathan Anand defeated Russia's Vladimir Kramnik in a match-play series to retain his title in Bonn, Germany on Wednesday.

Anand, who won the official title in Mexico last year, defeated Kramnik 6.5-4.5 after a draw in the penultimate game to take an unassailable lead in the 12-match contest
He destroyed Kramnik.

:haha: Anand won 3 games, Kramnik won 1 to extend the match...

He just got outplayed.

Next year Anand will play against the winner of the Topalov v Kamsky match which will be in November this year.

It seems chess has lost some prestige/media interest, many years ago matches like Karpov vs Kasparov were world headline news.
