Nestor and Mirnyi to split
Aaron Morrissey
Thursday, September 13, 2012

The doubles team of Daniel Nestor and Max Mirnyi will end their partnership at the end of this season, the Canadian journalist Tom Tebbutt reported in hisoblog. The pair played together for two years, won two Roland Garros titles, and reached No. 1.

“Max isn’t confirmed to play a full season next year, he’s a little bit skeptical about his elbow,” Nestor said. “It’s a little bit hard for me to wait until the last second to see what he’s going to do. So I just decided to switch.”

Nestor, 40, will team up with 38-year-old Indian Mahesh Bhupathi, who has been playing with his countryman Rohan Bopanna.

“He’s eager and I’ve had a lot respect for his accomplishments over the years,” said Nestor, who has won 79 doubles titles in his career. “He’s a great doubles player and he has great doubles instincts. I feel that if he can make the transition well to the other side (the deuce court), we can be a very good team.”

Nestor also told Tebbutt that next year, Nenad Zimonjic will play with Robert Linstedt, and Mirnyi will play with Horia Tecau.

Re: nicholas mahut to join forces with michael llodra for 2013

Mahut wants to focus also on doubles next year. He says he's ready to miss some singles events for the double. He wants to be an option for Davis Cup.

Nothing official about that Llodra/Mahut association but yes that's they could team up next year.

Re: lukas dlouhy new partner?

If he gets a permanent partner to play challengers, it won't be a class player. I guess he will team up with different (good) partners to play challengers.

What I don't understand is that there wasn't really a reason to lose his ranking like that. One thing about him is that he probably has the worst body language of any doubles specialist. Simply pathetic to watch at times, as if he was tanking.

Can you just combine all these threads, and make "New Doubles Partners"?

This is from Robert Lindstedts blog. Making a quick translation as I see many are interested in the new teams and some of the stuff already posted is confirmed and it's always nice with some of the reasons behind the switches.

Nestor/Mirnyi splits up. I've heard some different reasons and the one I believe in I won't write here. But as I said, both will switch partners. From a professional view this is one of two stupid moves, but it's more than just results that play in. Nestor will play with Mahesh Bhupathi next year

Bopanna/Bhupathi will stop playing. Bopanna wants to play on the backhandside next year and they haven't had as good of a season as they should. New partner for Mahesh is Daniel Nestor as said, Who Rohan will play with is not yet decided. as far as I know. Rumor is that he will go back to Quereshi who he had a nice season with 2011. But I have also heard that if Quereshi/Rojer makes the Masters they will continue. We'll see.

Llodra/Zimonjic. Since Llodra dropped so much in singles ranking he decided to go more for singles and in the middle of the season he changed his schedule with Nenad. He didn't go to the Masters tournaments in Canada and US, and not to Asia either. So in other words he destroyed the teams chances to reach the Masters in London. It's understandable it cracks then.

Lindstedt/Tecau. Yes, we are stopping. This is the other of the two professionally stupid switches. We know that. But as I said there are other reasons playing in. Me and Horia felt we could need a little break and some fresh air under our wings. Don't read that we are enemies and can't stand each other, that is completely wrong! But we have played together for 3 years now and that is long for a doubles team. It is a very demanding relationship as doubles partners.

Me and Horia has had 3 successful seasons behind us. This is no easy decision. But when Zimonjic asked me during summer it was an option impossible to not consider. There are three doubles players in the world I wanted to play with and that is Nestor, Bjorkman and Zimonjic. Finally me and Horia concluded that we should take a break in 2013. I really look forward to this new challenge. Nenad has been one fo the worlds top3 indiviual doublesplayers the last years and I think and believe we could do big things together. Nenad will move to the backhand box where he's played before.

I of course want to thank Horia for these years. We have helped each other up to stable top 10 players and I really hope he will stay there, just as I want to.

Who Horia will play with is as far as I know, not completely decided yet and when it is he can announce it himself when feeling ready. He sort of got a bit more media attention there in Romania.

It's a little hard to explain the sitation in a blog like this. I don't want to bring up everything we talked about me and Horia. But yet again I want to point out we are not enemies! And of course we will play the season out and fight as hard as previous years.

Mine and Nenads first tournament will be Stockholm Open where we have a chance to build our team because Horia felt to worn out to come. It's understandable and we took the same decision last year. So that will be a perfect week for me and Nenad.

Re: paes tecau to make team for 2013

Stop making new threads for every new team and new threads for asking who will team up with who. How hard is it to understand that theres are thread for new teams in 2013, and when you know about a new team you're supposed to post there and not start a new thread. And even if it wasn't obvious, you'd think seeing every new thread you've made being merged into that thread would be a good clue

Re: paes tecau to make team for 2013

also when people know about new teams they will post. there's no point in asking over and over and over because we don't know yet, and there' no point in asking us to guess because we have no influence, it doesn't matter who we want to partner together.

And if you're really gonna just keep at it over and over, them stop spamming new thread, use the thread that's made for it

Re: paes tecau to make team for 2013

Stop making new threads.

And next time read the article before posting it here. It talks about their pairing right now in Bangkok. There is no mention of them playing as a team in 2013.

Also, stop asking for new teams. In case you didn't know, there are 3 full months left before the start of the next season. That is plenty of time for the new partnerships to be finalized. And in case you had started following tennis more than a week ago, you would know that speculation about this leads nowhere.

I got a question, how come Paes and Bhupathi don't rejoin as a team anymore? They were pretty good as a team, especially in 1999. All these new team changes seems unneccesary, like Mirniy and Nestor. They won a Slam this year as a team, why mess with a winning formula? Sheesh.

with Mirnyi and Nestor. Mirnyi isn't sure if he will play a full sched in 2013, and Nestor wasn't gonna lay around and wait for him to decide last minute. with Bhupathi and Paes, i don't think Bhupathi likes Paes, well a lot players don't like Paes.

Paes and Bhupathi would never team again in tour, in the current scenario. Bhupathi has said that he'll retire next year, and so you cant expect that miracle to happen again.

BTW, Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek are going to continue as a team for next year, i read that news yesterday. But their schedule is not complete, Leander might play with other partners occasionally in the next year.

 These guys are worst than the cast of "Melrose Place". They switch partners a lot
