I would like to start a thread to keep track of some upcoming juniors.

Name: Noah Rubin
Birthday: 02-21-1996 (15 years old)
Junior Ranking: 42
ATP Ranking: N/A
Description: Noah recently captured his first G1 title (Copa Del Cafe 2012, hardcourt) two weeks ago and is currently at a career high junior ranking of 42 with only 5 itf starts :worship:. His ranking will continue to rise b/c of this week's play at G1 Copa Barranquilla (clay); will play in the quarterfinal. He was a finalist at the Les Petits As a couple of years ago. Noah seems to have a solid game, but he seems kinda short though when standing next to Farren Connor at the Copa Del Cafe final (Connor is listed at 5'11"). However, Noah is two years younger so let's hope that he can add some inches.

Name: Thai-Son Kwiatkowski
Birthday: 02-13-1995 (16 years old)
Junior Ranking: 84
ATP Ranking: N/A
Description: Despite the name, he is not a Thai descendent  . He is actually 1/4 Polish and 3/4 Vietnamese (from local paper). He is close to his career high in junior ranking but the last couple of weeks had him focusing on futures qualifying (not very successful thus far). He has a nice forehand. Here is an old video of him from the local news: Link

Might add more players later.

THAI-SON KWIATKOWSKI, CHRISTINA MAKAROVA AMONG AMERICANS TO PLAY IN SOUTH AMERICAN JUNIOR EVENTS

Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (18, Charlotte, N.C.) and Christina Makarova (16, San Diego) are among the top American juniors who will compete in several upcoming International Tennis Federation junior tournaments in South America beginning today.

Many of the United States’ top juniors will compete in at least one of the four clay court events: Copa Milo, February 25-March 2 in Santiago, Chile; Asuncion Bowl, March 4-9 in Asuncion, Paraguay; Banana Bowl, March 11-17 in Carvalho, Brazil; and Copa Gerdau, March 18-24 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

In addition to Kwiatkowski, ranked No. 17 in the ITF World Junior rankings for players ages 18 and under, the boys’ competitors playing in South America include No. 20 Spencer Papa (17, Edmond, Okla.), No. 30 Mackenzie McDonald (17, Berkeley, Calif.), No. 36 Luca Corinteli (17, Alexandria, Va.), No. 56 Martin Redlicki (17, Hawthorn Woods, Ill.), No. 66 Stefan Kozlov (15, Pembroke Pines, Fla.), No. 84 Daniel Kerznerman (17, Brooklyn, N.Y.) and No. 94 Michael Mmoh (15, Temple Hills, Md.).

Kozlov and Papa, who both train at the USTA National Training Center-Headquarters in Boca Raton, Fla., will travel with USTA National Coach Nicolas Todero.

Along with Makarova, the No. 16-ranked junior girl, the girls’ competitors include Louisa Chirico (16, Harrison, N.Y.), a U.S. Junior Fed Cup champion who reached the final of a USTA Pro Circuit $25,000 women’s tournament in Surprise, Ariz., last week, and top 100 juniors No. 79 Katrine Isabel Steffensen (16, Scarsdale, N.Y.), No. 84 Dasha Ivanova (16, Beaverton, Ore.), No. 85 Madison Bourguignon (15, Boynton Beach, Fla.), No. 86 Alicia Black (14, Boca Raton, Fla.), and No. 93 Rasheeda McAdoo (17, Boca Raton, Fla.).

Chirico trains at the USTA Training Center-East at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., while Black trains at the USTA Training Center Headquarters in Boca Raton, Fla.

Disappointing not to see Rubin and Tiafoe on the list.

Tiafoe is actually going to Asia soon for some tournaments. Maybe because he was just in South America? I dunno. And I'm wondering when Will is going to play his first tournament of the year.

And obviously Noah is still healing his wrist.

SapELee I recommend you don't look at Spencer's result today [/QU

Could be the pressure of defending the title. Papa does not deal well with pressure, especially the kind USTA puts upon him. I am pretty sure there will be an injury excuse or something else. I think it s plain and simple, just defending the title is not easy. He still has other results to defend there, in SA. He needs to defend, otherwise he could be out of top 50

IT will be tough but certainly possible. If he gets by Zverev then it gets easier
