Let's look at Murray's career against everyone in the Top 100 outside the "Big 3" combined. Lleyton Hewitt is currently ranked 101.

Grand Slams: 2 versus 2.

Masters 1000s: 9 versus 7.

Grand Slam Finals: 8 versus 6.

Olympic Gold: 1 versus 0.

Singles titles: 31 versus a bunch of vulturing in simultaneous 250s I couldn't be bothered to count.

Murray's Tier 2 status confirmed. :worship:

Masters: Tsonga - 2 Berdych - 1 Wawrinka - 1 Vulture - 1 Boredo - 1 That's 6, am I missing anyone?

Waiting for Hewitt to be outside of top 100 to make such a claim.

it is fascinating how poor the depth of the field has been the last decade or so. I mean absolutely terrible, there are no players ranked lower who have the right combination of guts + talent + fitness to really do much

fantastic top few guys obviously, but it's pretty shocked how mediocre everyone else has been. incomparable to any other era. and if that wasn't the case then you would have more lower ranked specialists stepping up to win Wimbledon or RG which has not happened. it's just a total lack of good players in general
