Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Singles Qualifying - Sunday, August 10
BTW, the people doing the scoreboard obviously have no idea of the concept of alternating service points in tiebreaks. The whole point is that if someone holds their two points on serve, they're either ahead or behind the other player, they can't draw level.

Moodie has the first set 7-6 (2), 0-1 in the second.
Draper breaks to lead 2-0 in the final set, after Kiefer had come back from 0-40 down on his serve - somehow I bet he's still dwelling on those missed chances...

A love hold for 5-0. Moodie is up 7-6, 4-2*, but has fewer aces than Vanek - I thought he was supposed to be a big server? The Raccoon leads 2-1 on serve.

You're right TBE, Kiefer has officially folded. Two matchpoints to Draper for a bagel final set... and he takes one.
S. Draper def. N. Kiefer 5-7, 7-6 (7), 6-0 - come to think of it, Kiefer actually had five matchpoints, as he had one more at 6-5 on Draper's serve in the second set. What a disastrous collapse... could have done with defending that result from last year. Still, Schalken is supposed to play a qualifier in the first round, and given his record against Kiefer I'm glad it won't be him...

W. Moodie def. J. Vanek 7-6 (2), 6-4. The final ace tally was 2-1 in Vanek's favour - weird. After all, this guy Moodie is 6'5" and has done absolutely nothing outside British challenger events and Wimbledon, so he must have a big grass-court game.
