May I remind you....they had always close matches!!
nd, rogi was suprised by the court...it was very fast..
I think Rogi have to find his rhytm.
nd he will raise his game for sure!
its always difficult first round matches....even if ur #1 in the world!!!!
calimero, I understand all of that and that Davydenko is a tough competitor. Nevertheless, it is not good for a #1 to keep losing serve when serving for a set, or like today, a match. It's not all about the rhythm and the court. If he could get himself to a position of serving for a set or a match, he must learn to serve it out. Whatsoever, he needs to improve that, he needs to.
0-15 - Long rally, Roger nets a backhand
15-15 - Big second serve down middle, Davydenko can't return it in
30-15 - Davydenko nets backhand return. Again Roger was charging into net
40-15 - Davydenko goes long on return
40-30 - Roger stretch backhand volley wide
Game Federer - Brilliant down the line forehand winner
0-15 - Roger forces Davydenko to go long
0-30 - Beautiful backhand down the line pass from Roger
0-40 - Amazing lunge cross court volley from Roger forces error
Game set match, Roger - Davydenko goes into net
Roger Federer d Davydenko 6-3, 5-7, 6-1
Its just the first round. Ninja will get more with it later on in the event. Davey can be tough. Ninja is making the most of his 2nd chance to close it out.
The good part of this match is that Roger is serving and volleying a lot. That will be necessary in other matches as well as the U.S Open. He sometimes get too caught up in baseline rallies or too comfortable in his abilities to rally that he forgets to come to the net to finish up points or make returning difficult for his opponents. When opponents see him serve and volleying, they cannot just take full swings at returns. Hence, he makes them guess what he is up to.
True Dirk. Guess I expect way too much from him. He is human as well. Hopefully, he will get into the thick of things and win the gold here. That will be really nice.
goooo ninja!!!
happy that he took that 3th set so easy!
he will raise his game for the further matches...I'm sure!
good luck rogi!
u r looking for gold....nd u gonna get gold!
