Re: Grigor Dimitrov

official ABN-AMRO site review:

Grigor Dimitrov is a name to remember. The Bulgarian, who is only 17 years and nine months old, is the youngest competitor in the 36th ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. His performances on the junior circuit – he won Wimbledon and the US Open last year – earned him a wild card from tournament director, Richard Krajicek. As a thank-you, he knocked out the former Czech top ten player, Tomas Berdych, in his first-round match on Tuesday. Dimitrov won an exciting match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

It was only his second match in an ATP tournament. Last year, he made his debut in Rosmalen during the Ordina Open, losing in the first round to Igor Andreev. Ranked number 482, he amazed the crowd in Ahoy Rotterdam on ‘Ladies’ Day’ by defeating the experienced Berdych, who is six years his senior and ranked 23 in the world, in the closing stages of the match. Dimitrov hit ten aces, saved nine out of ten break points and won two out of five break points. He cried with joy as he left the court. Dimitrov won’t find out who he’ll play next until Wednesday evening –either Rafael Nadal or Simone Bolelli.

Re: Grigor Dimitrov

Congratulations Grisha on winning your first ever ATP match. What i can say, what he achieved was amazing. No ordinary player could win a match like that. He played the world no 23 and not only did he match it with him but he beat him.

Also credit must go to his coach and his team. They are obviously doing a good job with him and of course he is only gonna get better. He is only 17 and still a kid so he has lots of improvement so thats a good thing. He is a tremendous talent.
I pray that he will come to Australia next year for AO qualies.

Vamos Grisha!!! :worship:

Re: Grigor Dimitrov

I just read that Peter Lundgren has started working with Grigor from this month. If that is true it is great news, almost as huge as the victory over Berdych. Lundgren has worked with Safin, Federer and Baghdatis and is definitely a good specialist who can teach a young player a lot of things.

Re: Grigor Dimitrov

Good luck ,boy!I`m soooo happy, thank you for all:worship:

“He is a great talent who won everything as a junior”, ruled Nadal who took the Australian Open title just over a week ago. “I know Dimitrov, as I have trained with him in Madrid. He has a lot of confidence. In addition, for him it is a motivation to play against the number one in the world. It will be tough, but I will try my best.”
