I think anything less than semi would be a disappointment ... but he keeps having mystifying losses so, yah, who knows. Just wonder if he is fully fit.
It's good to see Frank healthy again. When healthy, he's top 100 material. I want him back in the top 100 at some point this year. If Frank, Vasek, Jesse can stay in top 100, that means we will have 4 Canucks in the top 100.
Frank seems to play a lot better after a day's rest, so glad to see him get his match in and then win so comfortably. Forecasting 26 and sunny for Thursday so physically he should have a good day.
I actually believe this match up can go either way. Dancevic has had lots of mystifying losses, so a loss to Peliwo is not out of the question. I'm gonna predict Peliwo will upset Dancevic in 3 sets. Frank has a habit of stupefying us fans.
Bester did beat Frank a year ago, it may have been at this tourney (was a summer time challenger in Canada and not Vancouver, I believe). Still both guys need to get there first, but they both should at this point.
I can see Frank reaching the top 100 again but only for a brief moment, his 2007 form will never return imo. That was his peak form. His mentality is too muggy.
Ok, this win over Lacko is fairly convincing, Lacko's been playing crap lately though, even if it's just a CH I say give him a Roger's Cup WC over Levine.
Amazing serving performance today for Frank - 24 aces, 1 double fault, and a number of service winners too. I guess he might be able to go on serving so well for the summer and beyond, but I'd like to see him winning more points in rallies and at the net. Also like to see him not play this week for a break, then play Van., Toronto, and try to qualify for Cincy. I guess though he is chasing the points to get direct entry into the U.S. Open, but isn't the cut-off for that in just two weeks or something? He seems to invariably get hurt if he plays a number of weeks in a row.
i can definitely see frank getting that 4th spot, maybe even playing as the number 2 against novak. that way vasek is rested for the doubles and the sunday match against the serbian number 2.... i can't see vasek going 3 straight days away in serbia.. the joker has a bit more game than dudi selal
I'm not impressed, Even though Frank might've won Granby Challenger, I still see him mugging it up in first round in Rogers Cup. Unless he goes deep, I'm not impressed.
Not sure this is really fair to Frank. He is almost certainly going to face a much higher ranked player in 1st round (let alone after that) ... he could play very well in 1st round & still lose. I'm more interested in his level of play right now & whether he can stay fit .. of course I'd like him to win a few ATP 1000 matches, but right now, getting back to the top-100 is a more reasonable goal IMO.
great win my frank over becker. was up a break in the third and served for the match but was broken. had a match point on beckers serve. and then saved 2 match points in the third set tie break to come back. really happy with his effort and even happier with his mental strength to stay in this match and pull out the win
Grinds out a second round win in Van Open on a day when his top-spin backhand and placement on his serve was off. Can't see him having anything left for Reynolds, his old nememsis, tomorrow but good to get this win before trying his luck in Montreal.
His mental effort against Becker was up and down. It was quite an entertaining match though. His record against Reynolds is not that bad, 1-2 in main draw matches and 4-6 when qualifying and challengers are included.
With the day off, I'm hoping Frank is mentally upbeat for today. I'm liking his chances against Reynolds a lot more now than yesterday. On his good days he can definitely win two matches on the same day - do it Frankie!
