That's the end of the road for Matt, straight sets to Isner

Ebden must be feeling hard-done by. Had 4 set points leading 6-3 and 7-6 in the second set tiebreaker. Also had a BP in the ninth game of the third set with scores 4-4. Oh well... onward and upwards.

Nothing bad about losing to Isner, especially at Wimbledon on grass. Matt had his chances and could have won the breaker, if he had a bit of luck then. Any time you win a round at Wimbledon it is a good tournament (for him) for sure.

Matt did ok. I think most of the 50-50 calls went against him. Watching that match and having to listen to old misery guts Adler bash on Matty was painful.

Hopefully he plays Newport and then a few US challenger events. I could see him making US Open MD cut off if he does.
I think thats a great score against Isner. Unfortunately luck went against him.

Well, there's only two more weeks until the cutoff - so in order to make it, I think Matty would have to both win the Winnetka Challenger he's playing next week, as well as qualify and win a round in Newport. I guess it's doable, but very tight.

That said, even if he does miss, if his form continues he should by rights win the reciprocal wildcard into the US Open. If TA want to enable Lleyton to embarrass himself even more, that's their call...

I was also pleasantly surprised Ebden did so well against Isner - I thought he'd get more smashed than was actually the case.

Isner is a hard opponent for Matt. By all means, he played quite well
