How is losing to a player who returned a lot of serves back and played great from the baseline, "unlucky"?

It would have been unlucky if he had been forced to retire injured but losing to someone who plays better than you has nothing to do with luck.

Nop, Nishitkori has the tools to beat him any day, even Mugic being a mug with no soul can do it,

This is definitely the worst 500 Ive seen, and weakest tournament in the week: Marseille got Berdych, DelPo, Tipasarevic, Tsonga (looks almost like a M1000 lol) Buenos Aires Ferrer, Wawrinka, Almagro, Nalbandian.. Both 250.

i meant he was unlucky last 2 years not to win Memphis- he could have won - that match with Roddick was super close it could have been either way- that match was Milos unlucky and Roddick lucky - last year vs Melzer yes Melzer was in best form since RG 2010 and he handled big serving Raonic and Isner-both playing good at that time pretty comfortably - i mean dominating from baseline and getting back so many 1st serves. So i think 3rd time will be Milos ,,lucky,, and finally win Memphis i think he deserve to win Memphis, because he was 2x in final in row and with the competition he should win.

I voted Milos. I don't like this tourney, where is the tv coverage? Do they only televise weekend matches?

Cilic doesn't have any chance vs Milos in the final. And off-course he isn't tired of San Jose.

Haas obviously has a chance here, even if Raonic didn't lose. Quarters vs Blake would be a joy to my eyes.

Not to mention he loves Memphis, also won it 3 times.

Haas played a long tourney last week. That's why I wouldn't count the old man among the favorites here. All four seeded players of the top half should have better title chances than him.
The form of Nishikori is unclear, Dolgopolovs's performances are unpredictable anyway and former champion Querrey normally is the weakest of the four.
So Cilic might be the slight favorite now; he's also relatively consistent. However, Dolgopolov and Nishikori at their best might beat him.
Um Haas played three 1 hour matches last week...
