Re: Week 06: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic [Entry List]

Just got home from the tournament.

Dellien, challenger level soft pusher, nothing to see in him.

Muñoz de la Nava sorted his health issues the way he was playing in doubles would have beaten Olivares not losing more than ten points given he is a weak returner.

Saw Hernandez in a practise set with Zeballos, Guy has some serious spin and power and angles worthy of a top 100 player, he looses a lot of potential in actual matches, Zeballos couch told me university held a lot his maturity as a player.

Carballes: strong serve, strong steady backhand (best of the tournament) solid overall, stamina freak, he was cruising in some serving games in the last two matches I'd like to see him playing a better returner.

Jarry: I'm bad at guessing heigth but I'm 6´3 and he must be at least a strong 6´6 or 6´7 maybe more I don´t know but sorry Jarry fans dissapointed about his game. Take the words cluthon wrote about pusher flat backhand and that is Jarry backhand, no spin on int no fucking spin is just a flat ball that sometimes travel fast but without pace sometimes finds a good angle but overall, it won't hurt anybody at 600 level.
His forehand is not impresive, return; nice reflexes he is not getting aced but stroke wise barely manages to get below average level second serve on court some times.

given what he acomplished in a single year on tour I'm still eager to se another match of him but...

Haven´t seen Olivo, missed Lama.

I need to get my head in place to comment Zeballos vs Garin My god.

Re: Week 06: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic [Entry List]

Garin is not a six footer I'm 6´3 (not since long ago) :) and I'd hang out with Martin Cuevas Garin is probably shorter than him. but the biggest serve of this tournament bigger than Jarry clutch, fast second, spin and power off both sides, consistency, strong upper legs and lower back, backhand not a weapon to end points, not saying that it's a weekness. forehand has a massive hip involvement torque rotation, the biggest I've seen here.

He can pick up all the angles and bounces the opponent send at him has net game and drop shot.

Slow start from Garin, better player in the second, could not brake, despite multiple chances closed in the tiebreak. Zeballos become a time waster when stopped cruising and even got a warning. Garin still the better player in the third, Zeballos with a 13 minutes serve game and Garin could not brake. Garin serve botted 3 out of his firt 4 games in this set but at 5-4 need to save match points with bullets out of nowhere and massive forehands broke the following game with an impressive shot hand put directly from his ad side baseline to Horacio´s ad court baseline corner.

Zeballos served and volley 4 times in this set, 2-2 Garin made a few succesful passings in succession in the first and second. Zeballos tried to feed him with some nasty slow slices to the left side mid court, but Garin was simply picking up with the backhand and closing on the net.

We all have seen Zeballos won´t focus on him just to say that currently Garin hits and serve notably bigger than him.

Some are saying that Estrella must had entered the court and hit a few balls and play one or two games with Hernandez, for the organisers, José and the Public, I don´t have an oppinion on that but he was recieved by the president, and was signing posters, I forgot to ask him if he was going to Morelos, don´t like posters, got already a signed ball and Garin match was happening.

Got some pictures of Carballes and Jarry, one of Lama just giving an interview, coudl not take one today cause battery was dead, made a few low quality with my tablet, and asked some via bluetooth but just not worthy of what Garin did today.

Good to see Elias showing some mental strenght for a change. He's the favourite for the tittle, but I never believe in him. Will still find a way to fuck it up

Re: Week 06: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic [Entry List]

Another day I already commented in genearl messages.

Carballes was not getting rythm from Olivo and was hitting loopy forehands somehow he maneged to make it to 3-3 Olivo got excited and Carballes starting running and pushing everything easily. All the signs of a tiebraker but at 5-4 Olivo made two covering mistakes and a failed drop shot. Second Olivo gifted the first brake but then starting hitting with the same agressiveness but more consistently Carballes only giving midcourt balls and running with a lot of effort to balls just 5 feet from the baseline (ridiculous but true) started loosing the majority of points, well after 14 shots or more but...

Guy looses a lot of stamina each round that passes at 5-3 he had no energy to make a decent first serve, Olivo dominating the baseline, at 5-4 Roberto found DTL Backhands dropshots, created chances to brake and close, but Olivo was just there, somehow Roberto made it to the braker, but once second was over you knew the match was. Roberto was destroyed physically. No angles, forehand sloppy when not pushing consistent but with no purpose when pushing, just like to defend and keep the ball to the middle of the court, great stamina inside the point but not between matches. sorry Roberto fans (I'm one) I think he won't keep climbing more, and I liked the guy bad matchup for not so consistent attackers thats for sure.

Gave another look to Jarry flat backhand as I said, today he was hitting as I suppose is hes A game he attacks with some authority more strength and heaviness than sheer pace, but I´m talking of some serious heaviness guy finds some quick ways to hurt the opponent but we all know that flat shots aren´t consistent, he can improve but at what price IMO changing completely his backhand and radically shis FH?

Dellien was only joking in the earlier rounds, guy hits good spin with good pace and a bit amount of power off both wins Elias wasn't liking that kind of ball in the first, guy was mentally gone, gifted the early brake, wanted to come back rose his levels Dellien cut his wings with a succesful dropshot. But despite of that Elias became by a small margin the better player, Dellien should have closed but did not.
I Never imagined that Hugo was about to become a clown in the third trying to hit with the power he does not have and charging the net...

Garin and Melzer, nothing to see there since 2013 I knew and seeing live I can afirm that boy needs to toss his ball higher when serving, the kid has some hands and some good footwork, but nothing to take from the match.

The organisers should be ashamed they gave the titlist no spotligth, i'd be surprise if Dzumhur looses a set, What a coverage, footwork, speed, angles, slice, spin-power and everything. I'd be surprised if he looses a set, to other player than Gastao.

Well two days left.

Chilenaitor just on the cam still give me until the sunday to upload the best of them
