Fot the forst time since years he is not playing Munich, I agree to play Nice before Roland Garros....no time to think too much about a Slam coming and stress out (I hope!!)
I like his clay schedule!! Go Ernests!!

It appears my subconscious wanted to express its dislike of the "s." It's like how they say "maths" in the UK. If I can't pronounce it, why is it a word?! I don't think I've heard a single tennis commentator says Ernests correctly. Some make an effort and say something like "er-nes-tez. If it's actually meant to be just a 2 syllable name, as in Er-nests, then it's just too damn difficult to say. Does anyone know which it is? Plus, I think if you're speaking directly to him, you just say "Ernest," so let's just pretend we're speaking directly to him. Are you cool with that, Ernest?

Whats so difficult about pronouncing "s" at the end? It's not diff to say a word like earnings, isn't it? Or better, imagine it's Er - nests (plural of the word nest)

ahaha Lucky you're not in France or you're not gonna say a single word!!!! ahahah I get your point and I agree it is not easy to say it but S at the end of the a male name is a rule for Latvian language...there is nothing to argue about it..it is as it is!! ...and their parents gave him this name, let's try to write it down correctly at least!!!

But I've been to Paris, and I had no trouble at all, but that was when I still knew French. I've also forgotten 95% of German and Spanish because I never use them. I think that's true of so many native English speakers--you just never find yourself needing to speak other languages and they leave your brain altogether. Anyway, I guess it's just me--and every commentator calling Ernie's matches--who has trouble with his name. It feels like an effort to say it, and, Takuma, it's not the same as saying "nests!" Once you have to say the Er before it, it's totally different. It would only be the same if you were supposed to put the stress on the second syllable, but it's supposed to be on the Er part. Try saying Ernests or maths quickly three times....

I heard Latvians and Russians say his name on many occasions, and it always sounded like ER-nests (or ~ Air-nests if u like). Commentators pronouncing his name in a weird Er-nest-ez way are doing it wrong. That's not necessary at all. Also, I think you might be trying a little bit too hard. No need to stress the first syllable so heavily. Trust me
