Tommy Haas Joins James Blake for 2007 Delray Beach ITC
U.S. Open quarterfinalists Tommy Haas and James Blake, a pair of Florida residents who both reside among the top 15 ATP players in the world, will be among the stars to watch in the 2007 Delray Beach International Tennis Championships at the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center. Last month the German-born Haas joined Blake in committing to play in the January 27-February 4 tournament, which is celebrating its 15th year.

Ticket packages for the 32-player ATP event, the first of 2007 in the U.S, are on sale and can be purchased by calling the Delray Beach ITC box office at 561-330-6000, on-line at www.YellowTennisBall.com or through Ticketmaster.

Haas defeated 2005 champion Xavier Malisse 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5) last February to win the first of his three ATP titles this season. A 43-17 record has given him the fifth Top 20 finish of his career, and a continued remarkable comeback from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the 2003 season.

“I’m very much looking forward to returning to Delray Beach,” said Haas, who has trained fulltime at the Bollettieri Academy in Bradenton since he was 13 years old. “In a lot of ways winning Delray Beach was key to the successes I’ve enjoyed in 2006.”

Blake, who beat No. 3 Ivan Ljubicic in the Bangkok final this month for his fourth ATP title of 2006, is 50-21 and ranked No. 6 in this season’s ATP Champions Race. He is in good position to secure his first-ever berth in the Tennis Master’s Cup that features year-end competition between the top eight players in the world.

With Haas’ ranking at No. 14, tournament director Mark Baron has a draw that could include a pair of world Top 10 players—a first for Delray Beach.
“With James and Tommy already committed to returning and potentially both being in the Top 10, we’re looking forward to what could be our best draw ever,” said Baron. “That possibility has us very excited as we continue to build on the successes of our last tournament.”

From the google language tool I managed to translate somethin': :p

"I will surrender not so soon."

Hello my fans,

With all the hubbub last week, today I think for once time to apologize to you to report. Admittedly, after the U.S. Open is a little quiet about my person has become. This was obviously the one that I am disappointed about my early exit was. On the other hand needed my body but also the time of regeneration and myself a little rest. All the setbacks which always ereilen then, if you just believe it ran again, I had to pay tribute once and process their experiences.
In Flushing Meadows, I was obviously highly motivated and good things will remain longer in the tournament to be. But unfortunately, made me once again a violation of a line through the bill. Especially in his favorite tournament wants to know you always give his best. Unfortunately, I stayed on the grounds of inflammation in right elbow denied. I had more problems with this Schlagarm on disability and was now forced to do something about it.

I am therefore went to Germany for treatment at the hands of Dr Muller-Wohlfahrt, the working class once again provided. Also at the rehab Klaus Eder went perfectly, so I will soon be back training with a slight build could begin.

That is also the current state of things: I scoundrels currently practicing hard here in Las Vegas hard for my comeback. When, however, with my return is to be expected, I can not even say. It is important first and foremost, that I did not feel more pain and am totally fit. Previously, I will not venture out onto the pitch. Because only then can I return to the full go and attack. Perhaps in January, I can already play again, but perhaps not until later. I would like to see the bar itself is not set too high. In terms of patience is currently appropriate. I would really pleased me of course, 2009 and again in a Grand Slam tournaments to be able to be there. But even that goal is still far and is certainly not one of the primary. I realize that I first must bake small rolls. Excessive optimism is misplaced. However, and since you can be sure I will give up as soon not.

After my retirement courses, as you surely have heard even rumors about my resignation person in the press. I must say that I am in a conversation with a journalist certainly have mentioned that I, if I have a fourth time under the knife would have me ask the question would be whether the whole thing because it still was worth. The kräftezehrenden pain, the hard-building training - his body seems to be something to it. Currently, however, I see no reason for such a consideration. I feel good and would again back on the ATP Tour come. My body signaled me in any case, that my Zenith has not yet been reached. And that makes me positive about the future.

Last Saturday invited me to Andre Agassi Wynn casino on his annual "Grand Slam For Children" charity concert. On the stage performed a series of real music sizes: Sheryl Crow sang, for example, a striking duet with Rod Stewart. Moreover, the Killers gave the honor and Natasha Bedingfield also won applause from her legitimately. That was really a super evening!

With all the fun we had there, but we must not the actual motive of this charity event forget: André works for needy children. And this is a really cool thing I like to support.

You surely have noticed is that this site in a new garb presented. I hope the layout tells you to. From now on, the people of the communications agency Seven Dead Cats on my page. They have assured me that this page in a short time already with new features much more vivid effect will be. Looks best simply more here: It will do something.

So far, so good. I will you in the future so often to keep up. That I promise you. Pushes me ask in return for the thumb that in the next few weeks, everything goes smoothly and I quickly again on a return to tennis after business can remember.

Many greetings from Vegas,

Yours Tommy

This google tool is useless :D

He says that he won't play on the ATP Tour until January 2009, even that is not sure. However, he feels good and does not think to retire, yet. Furthermore, he hopes to play at least one Grand Slam in the 2009 season. Moreover, he says that an injury handicaped him in his match against Muller at the USO 2008.

This text is something I wouldn't have expected of Tommy. I was very happy to read something about him and it is the first time that he describes his feelings so detailed to his fans. That's very good :) Now we all know that he won't retire and that he'll play some tournaments in 2009. So let's hope the best!

babel fish at it's best

I don't have time to translate it word by word so here a summary:

He is sorry because he didn't give any news since the US Open. That's because he was very disappointed about his early loss caused by another injury. He has an inflammation in his ellbow. Therefore he saw Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt in Munich and went to Klaus Eder in Donaustauf to recover. Now he is practicing hard in Las Vegas and also went to Andre Agassi's Charity Gala.
He cannot set a date for his comeback at the moment. Most importand right now is to play without pain and get 100 % fit again. This could be in Janurary but it could also be later. He hopes to play a Grand Slam in 2009 but he also knows that he has to set small goals right now. He will for sure not give up!
He read about the rumours about his retirement. They were caused by a journalist who misunderstood what he said in an interview. He said if he would need a 4th surgery he might start thinking if the pain and the hard work of recovering is worth it. But right now he feels that he is still fit enough to play professional tennis and is looking positive into the future.

So no Basel although he didn't withdraw from it yet but reading this I am sure he will anytime soon. From next week on he will not lose any more ranking points until the end of February I think. So he has time to recover ;)

He didn't withdraw from Basel yet. Vliegen is first alternate but he is playing Qualies so no more maindraw players withdrew. But everyone can still withdraw. They would have to turn up and see the tournament physio on site or pay a late withdraw fine.

Of course I hope that Tommy will be able to play but it wouldn't fit to what he posted on his website, would it?

The draw will be made today 5 pm local time. After that we will know more :)

But don't you see ... it's THOMMY Haas, not Tommy. ;)

Well, it's strange indeed that two days or something after this nice news post, where he pretty much declared that the year for him is over, he pops up in a draw. But I don't complain. Maybe Tommy's post on his site was posted a little later than he wrote it ...

I only hope this is more than just a last reunion with some friends before the end of the season.
There also seem to be some live streams. At the very least I will be able to see it on bwin ... or I could if I were at home - damn it! ;)
But I agree, I won't get my hopes too high until I really see him on the court ... or on the scoreboard. :)

The end of this year has been so strange  And even if Tommy does show up and play in the Tournament it will be very difficult for him after the long lay off  I think Tommy wants to play tennis, but I'm afraid his body is telling him not to play :crying2:

Wow, there's a lot going on in here.
Although it's a little strange after that what Tommy wrote a couple of days ago he is in the main draw. And I think if he decided not to play he would have withdrawn by now
So I am positive and I hope to see him soon, maybe on Tuesday!
