I also would add the football war between El Salvador and Honduras in 1969, which broke out after their extremely bitter and violent series of World Cup qualification matches against each other in Tegucigalpa, San Salvador and Mexico City.
Another contender is the death match in Kiev in 1942, with FC Start (made of former players from Dynamo and Lokomotiv Kiev who had become bakers) beating Flakelf (made up of pilots from the German Luftwaffe) 5-3. FC Start had beaten them 5-1 a few days earlier and Flakelf demanded a re-match.
There have been many different accounts of the fate of the FC Start members after their victory. The common one is that after they won another match the following week, they were arrested by the Gestapo, tortured and sent to labour camps.
