Not a terrible draw. Hope he can reach Rafa! :D
His first match is either Saturday or Sunday.

1st serve percentage: Rafa 58%, Kei 61%
Winners/UEs: Rafa 24/25, Kei 18/33
Net points won: Rafa 8/12, Kei 6/13
BP converted: Rafa 4/10, Kei 2/8

Kei was attacking Rafa's 2nd serve relentlessly, Rafa was winning only 44% on second serve, which is low for his standards.
Kei was playing very aggressively so he can't probably cut down the error count, but there were some very disappointing UEs on an important point like that FH error on the SP in the 1st set.
I liked the angles and the variety of shots he was employing.

Good luck in Monte Carlo!

Same thought as what you said bunny, few of those "finishing shots" that Kei played with his jumping style didn't work out on the important points, wasn't his best day at the office in terms of UEs.

A lot of talk about Nadal's MTO etc. in GM, but I was more concerned over the 2 points which he was robbed(replay show it was in) but Kei didn't use his challenges, 1 from the linesman and 1 call direct from the chair umpire, the match was close so a point here and there could really determine the final outcome.
It was up to Kei to judge it since hawkeye was available so can't blame anyone else...

The positives IMO is that Kei created chances and it was another close encounter, but Nadal hit some clean DTL winners which Kei had no chance of getting, these shots along with Nadals incredible speed might have made Kei rushed his shots more than usual. Still a well fought match, but I would've slept much better had he won!
