Starting a thread for John Peers who is a 22 year old Aussie older brother of Sally. Just qualifyed for a futures tournment. In the first round he beat the number 6 seed Piero Luisi 6-0 6-4. Then in the second round beat Ricardo Rodriguez 6-2 6-2. Then in the Quaterfinals beat the number 4 seed Roman Recarate 7-6(4) 6-1. And will take on number 2 seed Andreozzi for a spot in the final. Pretty good efort to make it to the semis with out droping a set. Hopfully we have a good player here.
John has been at an American College for the last few years. No doubt he will be trying his form on the circuit. Good luck to Peers.
I expect JP Smith, from Townsville, to be doing the same in the next six months.
John got thorugh to the final with a 7-5 6-3 win but went down in the final to the top seed 6-4 3-6 7-6(10). That was as a qualifier what a great result.
Well done to John. That will kick-start his ranking, although it is a $10k Futures.
He made the final in the doubles as well, as did fellow Aussie Chris Letcher.
John is back playing this week gaining SE for a futures tournment in Venezuela. Takes on a qualifier in the first round lets hope for another good week. He also won the doubles title last week i think he won it 6-1 6-2 or something.
Peersy into the QF round in this week's Venezuela futures, winning 1st round match 61, 61, then knocking off the No.6 seed 76, 63.
Keep the good works going John.
John put in a good effort against second seed Igor Sijsling but went down 7-6(3) 7-5. He is top seed in doubles with Udomchoke they won there first round 6-2 7-5.
Peersie celebrating a win in the doubles at Aptos, teaming up with South African veteran Rik De Voest to beat fellow Aussie Gooch and German Frank Moser (another oldie)67(5)6-1 (10-4).
Up goes Peers' doubles ranking.
Well done John.
Yep - good doubles ranking and seems to be playing ATP doubles atm. Noticed that he is the 2nd ranked Aussie in doubles now. Could be a very interesting development and a good career move for Peersie.
Wow, a clutch win against the number one doubles team in their home country. I'm impressed.
