Re: 2013 PAW Managers Thread - Summer tournaments available for picking
I totally understand Sylvie's point, supertom has only managed 3 tournament and hasn't proven he could manage such a big tournament (some mistakes and late updates in Houston while it's a little tournament). To run a masters you really need to know the rules and have time to manage the tournament.
I have confidence supertom knows the rules after managing 3 tournaments and having free weeks when Rome will be played he has the time to manage and he can prove he is able to manage a masters format.
Does supertom knows he is on the list to manage Rome now?

Rik, I know it. You know that I am used to manage TT tournaments too, and I never failed to. I am not such a "new manager". Usually, during this "little tournament", I am also managing a TT tournament, which takes time. For Rome, I have no TT tournaments in the same time.
So I don't want to lead to too much debates on myself, so anybody is free to take this tournament, I give up.

I wasn't meant to be hard on you, time was probably the issue managing Houston. I have all trust you can manage well and of course all help in the game is appreciated, although I do understand you don't want to manage Rome now.

Re: 2013 PAW Managers Thread - Summer tournaments available for picking
I think there should be a rule about how to post picks. I mean, a fixed pick-posting format. Most of the managers including me prefer PAW## PlayerA over PlayerB format. But some of the players don't bother following this format. They have their own style of posting picks(which creates problem in spreadsheets). They use def or def. instead of over and write PAW#: or PAW##: or, PAW ## etc. I know it's the manager's job to correct everything but still, players should be a little more responsible when posting picks, shouldn't they? I'm being a little bit harsh about this I guess... But I couldn't make them(those using their own style) understand this. I used to PM them to tell them that they should use PAW## PlayerA over PlayerB format but they haven't changed. So I gave up telling them.
So how about a rule about this one? I'm proposing a rule which will make their picks invalid if they don't use this format. It's just my own opinion.
It's up to you guys.

Re: 2013 PAW Managers Thread - Summer tournaments available for picking
i do it manually so i really don't have that problem but if you post message how you want PAWs to be shown and people don't follow, it's fair to see this PAW as invalid. I often wonder what is the point of me posting pick summary when some don't look it up or do PAW??

From next time I'll tell that in public. And yes, sometimes I wonder that too. Yesterday I felt angry when a player posted PAW?? tbh.

I do not support a rule offered by you.
If non-format-pick is cancelled, time for correction = 0. But time of dialogue with the player increases repeatedly. At any deviation the manager will discuss with the player, whether it is possible to consider, that the pick conforms to a format. The general expense of time will increase.
Numbering of picks is problem for the player. If the player has confused numbering, it has difficulty to make a cancelling or replacement of the pick. When I the manager let all picks will have number PAW??, I'm indifferent.

Re: 2013 PAW Managers Thread - Summer tournaments available for picking
The format of PAW picks has been debated many times over recent years. Only until recently has the format been critical for a particular spreadsheet and I think many players (including myself) have now switched to the 'PAWXX PlayerA over PlayerB' format to help the managers who use this spreadsheet. The problem is that some players have posted picks in other acceptable formats (using colons, def, etc) for almost a decade now and they seem unwilling to change. The PAW Board has voted not to accept a single format in recent years but maybe this can be debated once again in the off-season.

Re: 2013 PAW Managers Thread - Summer tournaments available for picking
i like neat and tidy and i don't understand how someone can post picks in three different formats; at least follow one format all the time!

It looks like Rome has no manager next week, is there anyone who has the time to manage it?
