Default Del Potro GS curse strikes again

In the last 13 Grand Slams which Del Potro has participated in, the eventual winner has not been from his half of the draw. The last time it happened was Del Potro's 2009 win at the US Open. The following list features the player he lost to + the runner up of those Slams he was in the same half as:

AO 2010: Cilic, Murray's side

AO 2011: Baghdatis, Murray's side
FO 2011: Djokovic, Federer's side
W 2011: Nadal's side
USO 2011: Simon, Nadal's side

AO 2012: Federer, Nadal's side
FO 2012: Federer, Djokovic's side
W 2012: Ferrer, Murray's side
USO 2012: Djokovic's side

AO 2013: Chardy, Murray's side
W 2013: Djokovic's side
USO 2013: Hewitt, Djokovic's side

AO 2014: Bautista-Agut, Nadal's side

If we check through the first 14 Grand Slams of Del Potro's career, we discover he was drawn in the eventual winner's side 7 times, exactly 50% (that includes his 2009 win). In 2007 he either lost to the eventual champion or eventual runner up.

FO 2006: Ferrero, Federer's side
USO 2006: Falla, Federer's side W

AO 2007: Gonzalez's side
FO 2007: Nadal's side W
W 2007: Federer's side W
USO 2007: Djokovic's side

AO 2008: Ferrer, Djokovic's side W
FO 2008: Bollelli, Nadal's side W
W 2008: Wawrinka, Federer's side
USO 2008: Murray's side

AO 2009: Federer's side
FO 2009: Federer's side W
W 2009: Hewitt, Roddick's side
USO 2009: Del Potro won W

So why the discrepancy between Potro's pre and post-USO victory? Does he send out residual shockwaves which weakens the rest of his half which makes their job of winning the tournament that much harder? Or is it just a coincidence?

If it holds true, keep him in Rafa's half for now on and have Rogie in the other half always.

YES. I'd always wondered if it originated from that, or if it was circulating in the non-Chinese spheres too. But I'm pretty sure the Chinese one has been upgraded, right?

The translation of his name "波特罗" and "菠萝( Bo luo )" which means pineapple sound pretty much alike in Chinese.
Thus his most widely used nickname in Chinese tennis forums is "大菠萝" ( Big Pineapple )

I noticed this a while ago. Happened four times to Djokovic, Nadal and Murray. Funny.
