Re: AO '08 <=> AO '14 - Which youngster is going to straightset Djokovic at AO?
lol are you even serious with such threads? Djokovic back then was a youngster, but a youngster who was number 3 in the world. The highest ranked youngster of the ones you named in the poll is Janowicz (#21 in the world) who's yet to win a title. Djokovic at that time had 7 titles (2 masters) and reached one slam final. It's incomparable in any way possible  There's no way Djokovic is losing to any of those youngsters, let alone being straightseted
Re: AO '08 <=> AO '14 - Which youngster is going to straightset Djokovic at AO?
I can only assume that the OP was joking when he put Cilic in his poll. All other players listed have nothing to hurt Djokovic.
20y Djokovic was clearly the second best player on HC back in 2007/2008, ranked number 3, won 2 masters and many other ATP tournaments, played his first GS final at the USO ... none of the guys in the poll have achieved anything even remotely close to 20yo Novak.

Djokovic the clear favorite for the title. I mean, I don't think Murray will be at his top level in AO, probably not until Wimbledon/USO for him, Federer is too old, Tsonga, Berdych, Wawrinka, you can't trust any of them. Ferrer hasn't got the weapons. The only one who has a shot is Nadal, but he is prone to a loss before the final.

Tomic matches up well with Djokovic and ups his game for his home tournament. I'd put my house on Tomic to beat him if they meet in 2014 at the AO

Considering that there are no "young" players who are even close to the ability of Djokovic in 2008 (who had also won Masters Series titles and reached the US Open final), it's not going to happen.
On top of that is the fact that it's highly unlikely Djokovic is going to all of a sudden decline like Federer did by the 2008 Australian Open. Djokovic will be much more difficult to beat.
It's the same serious contenders year in and year out, incredibly mundane.

That's an interesting funfact. Before AO 2008, the youngest active player to win a Masters was Djokovic. Before AO 2014, the youngest active player to win a Masters is...still Djokovic.

Toni will try and rig the draw to stop Nole. But even after an extra days rest for Dull after a 5 hour Muzza marathon for Nole, Nadal couldn't beat him! Hilarious considering Nole apparently didn't move the next day after the Murray match and still should have won in 4, had a billion chances
Injured youngster with broken arm to triple bagel Dull.
