While a first round bye is a gift, a very winnable first round can be even better as long as you deliver the win, and did not go too deep the previous week. Match practice on the court can only help.
Bernard is my third favorite player behind Gael and Jo. Just love everything about the guy. If he can make it to the second week in RG that would be fantastic and it would get him a seed in the mid 20s for Wimbledon. Allez Bernard and heres hoping we get some more Monfils-Tomic matches after their encounter in Kooyong.
He played well. He had a good break point conversion, 4 out of 6 by memory. He hit someone great backhands down the line which would always allow him to win the points. He kept his unforced errors down as well and was aggressive at the same time. He woke up immediately after he got broken early in the 2nd. Lacko though, is a terrible clay courter and Bernie will probably have a tougher time with Kukuskin. Lastly, Bernie struggles to be aggressive when hitting his backhand in the middle of the court as there is not a lot of top spin on it and because of this Lacko got back into some of the points.
Is there a video or highlights anywhere? I don't have tennis channel :/
