Should skip Madrid. Won't be too discomforting to miss it esp. after what happened last year. He will be back to courts in 10 days. Me thinks.

What makes me sad is that he felt he had to play to avoid pundits/media talking about his retirements.

The media has been so unfair towards him. He has retired from 10 matches in his entire career, in 11 years, in 698 matches. That's nothing.

Many other players have worse records, yet the media doesn't go after them. When Roger and Roddick ridiculed Novak and the obedient media followed suit, it scarred Novak. He may be a warrior on court, but he's a delicate flower inside. He was only a baby. Being ridiculed/criticised by the establishment of the sport he loved so much.

I hope this incident teaches him a lesson. He has to grow up, look after his health and start doing things for himself, for his game, for his health. He has earned the right to not give a shit about what people say or think.

Get well soon, dear Nole.

I hope he takes all the rest he needs, and doesn't make the mistake of trying to come back too soon. WHATEVER people say.

He should withdraw but he didn't. Now what is done is done. Let's hope for the best. This is not the first time he made a bad decision, and it won't be the last I'm afraid. He has to live with it good or bad. Send him prayers and positive energy.

Pretty sure he will be out at least until RG. But he will be satisfied, knowing that he took no media flak for retiring.
And then people ask why he won only 6 slams. He is his own worst enemy.

Well ,NID Novak is his own man , what else can we do as fans/if we are real/ but support him and be on his side when hard times like this are infront of him?

It's simple. He doesn't have the mind of a champion, like Nadal or Federer. He only has the mind of someone who sees the potential profit in something. How often has he shown his best tennis in masters series only to falter on the big stage? Federer and Nadal rarely show their best game in masters series. Rafa barely tried against Del Potro in Shanghai last year, and then against Ferrer in Paris. Federer in his peak years never played every single masters. Nole has been playing every masters and giving it his all ever since 2006. His big push post USO last year was impressive, but how much did it cost his chances for AO? Even after losing in the AO early he refused to play Davis Cup. Nole doesn't seem to want to sacrifice his earning potential by focusing solely on the slams.
