I never even realised how short the off season is! Especially for the DC players and WTF. I hope he finds enough time to spend with little Thimothee. Allez Gillou :)

Gilles number 34! One place behind Gasquet. Not sure why, but i have some sort of rivalry in my head between Simon and Gasquet...I can't wait for him to be ahead of him  I think it's because of the two strong fanbases for the french players :p

Yes, ranking up to 34th. Since this thread is about number, thought I'll do something fun. So here's the statistic summary of Gilles' titles.

8 titles he won so far
7 cities he won titles in (Marseille/Bucharest 2/Indianaopolis/Casablanca/Bangkok/Metz/Sydney)
6 different months in the year he won titles (Jan/Feb/May/July/Sept/Oct)
5 consecutive years he won at least a title (2007-2011) in 5 continents (Europe/Africa/N.A./Asia/Australia)
4th among French for most titles (Noah 23/Forget 11/Leconte 9)
3 different surfaces (indoor hard/outdoor hard/clay)
2 titles since he elevated his status to papa Simon (Baby Timothee is 4 months old)
1 set lost among all 8 finals he won (lost 1st set in 07 Bucharest, all other wins in straight sets)
0 set lost on his way to 2 of his titles (Marseille 07/Sydney 11)

Nice list! :yeah:

And this stat just sounds so cute. :hearts: Papa Simon & baby Timothee. :inlove:
Little Timmy is turning out to be a lucky charm for him. :D

Oh, this is a great stat.

I had that baby daddy stat stuck in my mind the moment he won, so I didn't even try to think about other stat for the number 2 when I wrote the list. But this straight sets win probably is more relevant. :D

Nice list! :yeah:

When we found out that he's going to be a father, I'm sure we were all wondering how's Gilles gonna handle a tennis career when he becomes a father. Now we know, little Timothee is daddy's lucky charm.

. We are totally drooling over Carine for her awesomeness. Gilles is a lucky man. Then again, I also think he's a great guy (the fact that he doesn't go partying is enough to win me over ;)) and so deserving to have a great woman and have great babies :D.

Who says we are only allowed to drool over Gilles? His gf/fiancée/wife is some serious competition here.
That's enough to win me over as well, just as much as his cute smile, his fabulous personality and especially his statements. :) He is so down to earth and hilarious at the same time when he says things like I've put in my sig. :D

And Timothee will soon join the competition too, it's only a matter of time when we'll get to see him running around the court after daddy ;).

not to mention his handsomeness and his lack of self-aware of his own look. I especially loves that he pulls all kind of faces and often stuck his tongues out during matches. The only thing I don't like about Gilles is his grumpiness, but he said his 2011 resolution is to stop whinning on court, hopefully he'll manage to stick to it.

Gilles stays at 34 this week. He will play Rotterdam next week. Although he has no points to defend in Feb, to gain any point is not exactly easy. For all 3 tournaments (Rotterdam, Marseille and Dubai), he will need to get to SF to start gaining pt. Well, we'll see what happens then. Hoping for good draws *finger-crossed*.

Hmm, i thought i was finally getting how the points system worked, but now i'm confused. Why can't Gilles gain points until a SF?

That's right, I forgot that he can count 4 ATP500. In fact, I'm a bit confused about how the smaller tournament is going to be counted now that he's a non-commitment player. But I'm assuming that unless he's missing any slams/ATP 1000, otherwise, if he plays all his slams and ATP 1000, then the points from slams/1000 will all be counted regardless, even if he gains more pts from smaller events. That way, the only restriction that won't be enforced on him is that he doesn't need to meet the ATP500 requirement, but does he still get zero pointer (which I kinda think that only applies to commitment player, is that correct?). Well, anyway, I have many questions regarding the ranking system. But I'll try to be patient and let it play out along the way.
