Timmy has defeated Jesse Witten 61 64 in the first round of the Winnetka Challenger in North Chicago. Great stuff. Btw, Tim has a great website and a facebook page. http://timsmyczek.com/
Smee is on fire! He deated Arnaud Clement (1) 36 62 64, then defeated Kei Nishikori 63 64, and now is ahead of Nick Lindahl 6-2, 1-0* in the qualifying final match for the Los Angeles Farmers Classic- 2nd stop on the USO series.
Tim just downed world #37 and ATP 500 Hamburg champ Golubev 63 76!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In Rogers Cup qualies. Amazing win He's been lights out lately. I really hope he can qualify for the md. That will be HUGE. USO wildcard would be very possible if that happens. I encourage everyone to watch this guys game. Not a lot of weapons, but an amazing scrappy baseliner who can pop winners from anywhere
He lost to Monfils in San Jose, then had to retire in Memphis against Russell. Hope its nothing major might just be a little fatigue. Hopefully he'll continue to have some positive results.
Tim Smyczek upset No. 4 Alex Kuznetsov, 6-3, 6-3, for his spot in the quarterfinals.
“We know each others game very well,” said Smyczek who trains together with Kuznetsov at the Saddlebrok Resort in Tampa Florida. “Today, I think I was feeling a little bit better, moving a little better.”
“He just got the better of me today,” said Kuznetsov, No. 167, last year’s singles Honolulu finalist who recently lost to Rafafel Nadal in the first round of the Australian Open.
“Perhaps the conditions at our last few tournaments were better for my game,” said Smyczek who has won their last three encounters. “We are very close in ability and I don’t think anyone would be surprised if either one of us won against each other but the last couple have gone my way.”
He will take on No.7 Yuichi Sugita from Japan tomorrow.
Gilles Muller def. Tim 2-6 7-6(5) 6-3. I don't know what Tim's 3 set record is but probably not very good. I feel like he is not a very good 3-setter.
