Might as well start a thread for him.

Taylor Harry Fritz
Age:17 (28 Oct 1997)
Height: 6-4+ (was said to be 6-3 last year)
Plays: Right Handed (Double Handed Backhand)

Current Junior Ranking: 13
Current ATP Ranking: 1132

Probably our best 1997 prospect. Won the Osaka Mayor's Cup - World Super Junior Tennis Championships in October, made semifinals of Wimbledon this year. Received qualifying wc into the USO (Men) so the USTA obviously thinks very highly of him. Some of our fellow twitter friends who saw him at the open said he kinda reminded them of Sampras (with a two handed backhand). Taylor has a big serve, forehand, and a decent backhand that can do damage crosscourt. He might have the biggest serve of all of our prospects. Served 133 mph at Jr Wimbledon as a 16yo. His best surface is hard court (likes grass). Like most Californians, doesn't have a lot of experience on clay (weakest surface).

He is from a tennis family. His mom (Kathy May) is a former Top 10 pro and his dad (Guy Fritz) also played professionally. Guy is his main coach.

A little bit about his family background.

Taylor Fritz comes from tennis royalty and a true tennis dynasty. Taylor’s maternal grandfather had a drive and lifelong passion to support tennis in every and any fashion needed. David May was a scion to the Wilbur May fortune of the May company department stores. David could talk tennis all day. All night. And well you get it. He loved it. He Had a passion for watching , playing or developing talent. He loved Lovey cause she brought him stats and interviews from the U.S. Open. He loved Global Chick because she shared his passion as well he loved Tory Fretz ,Who doesn’t.

He loved all of his daughters Anita and Kathy May. Anita was a fierce competitor. Kathy May was a top Tenner. Alicia May had a nice career. Tommie played a little , not sure about Amanda and not sure who we forgot. Tony Trabert was around the family court often as was the amazing Pancho Segura and Gene Malin.

Let’s talk about Taylor. We know he is still growing. We know he wins sportsmanship awards. We know Marty Mulligan has him wearing FILA. We know Amy has him using HEAD rackets and Solinco supplies some string. We know Taylor hasn’t even begun honing his skills. He is a green rookie . He came thru qualies out in Roehampton. He really has worked his way thru all his matches in this event with great skill and resilience. .

His dad guy Fritz coached at the college of the desert and worked with the very talented Abe Hewko. ( currently in college , Boise ?BSU. You’ll hear about him some day )

Very excited to be in the Finals of the Roland Garros Jr's tomorrow and even more excited that I've only fallen 3 times this tournament

Yeah great week, sort of unexpected tbh. His favorite surface coming up next.
Not shocking when you consider that he won a G1 on red clay last year, beating Rublev decisively in the final. He also got to the SF of the GA Trofeo Bonfiglio. The kid's good on any surface.

On grass he'll be a nightmare for his opponents. Hopefully the pressure of being the favorite won't get to him.
