Welcome to Fill-In-The-Draw 2012
U.S. Spring Streak
Tournament # 2 of 5 : Memphis

Here's what you need to know:

1) No commitments are necessary for the tournaments. Simply post your picks in the thread. You may play more than one event per week.

2) To play this game, you will post a full predicted draw for the tournament, including all winners in all matches of all rounds.

3) You must post your full prediction before the first ball of the first main draw match is struck.

4) Every player can replace his/her draw only once per tournament whatever the reason of replacement.
If you are changing picks, you must post your picks in a new post. No editing posts under any circumstances.

5) As far as qualifiers are concerned, you may post just "Q" in you predictions if you wish to make them before the qualifiers are placed, or you may wait until they are placed to predict, but remember that you must post before the first match begins. If two qualifiers play each other, and you are predicting before they are placed, you must predict based on their placement in the draw. For instance, you may say "Qualifier 1" which would indicate a prediction that the qualifier who is listed first in the draw would win, or you may say "Qualifier 2" which means that you predict the other qualifier to win.
If you didn't determine Qualifier 1 or 2, your pick will not be counted.

6) If a player receives a bye, you do not get points for predicting them into the second round.

7) Scoring goes as follows:
The points you receive will be based on the round points for the tournament. For each player you predict correctly into the second round, you receive the round points for a first round victory, and so on.

8) The tiebreak rule is to go by how many correct picks the players had in each round, (for example)
1. # of correct Final picks
2. # of correct SF picks
3. # of correct QF picks
4. # of correct R16 picks, etc.
and if the players are still tied after counting each round, they will remain tied.

9) PLEASE REMEMBER:
-When you post your picks, please list ONLY the winners of each round. DO NOT have 'Player A d. Player B' as it will make the manager's job much easier
-Also, please do not use smilies in your picks, there is really no need for it.

For more info, please feel free to visit the FITD forum in the games section

Thunderfish, Boomer23, and...
the FITD Board
Welcome You To The
U.S. SPRING STREAK

What Is It???

This is a series is just like the Eurasian Autumn Series at the end of the 2011 season that will work similarly to the U.S. Open Olympus Bonus Series. The only difference is that it is in February-March. Boomer23 or myself are running one tournament every week from now until the beginning of the clay court season and each of those tournaments will be part of the series. Your scores for each of the five tournaments will be added up for your final series score. There are five tournaments so the top 10 players will get bonus ranking points at the end of the series.

What Tournaments are Included In the Series???

There are 5 tournaments, one every week starting with San Jose and ending with Miami. The Tournaments Are:
San Jose
Memphis
Delray Beach
Indian Wells
Miami

What are the rules???

This is a fairly simples plan. Boomer23, and I (Thunderfish) will be the manager of all five tournaments. If you ever forget which tournament of the week is part of the series, just look for the one that one of us is managing. There are only a couple of rules:
1. You all have busy lives. I get it. You will not be eliminated from the series if you miss one tournament. You will simply receive no points for that tournament.
2. I will release a series leaderboard update at the end of every tournament. Please do not constantly ask about the total standings. There is no spreadsheet for this kind of leaderboard so I will have to format it myself to work. Do not worry. I am not a lazy leader, but when you put pressure on me, I am more likely to make small mistakes.
3. Please for the love of god, read the post on how to make your picks.
4. The FITD board has approved these rules and the series as a whole, so no skepticism please. I have gotten permission to do this.

Prizes (Obviously the most important part)...

All prizes are in the form of ranking points. Prizes are as follows:
1st - 300
2nd - 200
3rd - 150
4th - 100
5th - 75
6th - 50
7th - 30
8th - 20
9th - 15
10th - 10

What is each tournament worth for the series??

San Jose - 840
Memphis - 1880
Delray Beach - 920
Indian Wells - 4240 (I may have to check the math on this one)
Miami - 4240 (Again, math may be slightly off)

Thanks d_s for helping make this happen! :wavey:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Enjoy the series. Hopefully, this will turn out as successfully as the Eurasian Autumn Circuit!!!

Memphis Round 2 Update
I am very sick right now but as promised here is the Memphis Round 2 Update. Luckily for me, all 68 of you picked Raonic to win tonight so I inputted him winning into the spreadsheet. Obviously if he doesn't win, no positions will be affected because you all picked him. (although he's already up a set so he's probably a shoe-in at this point).

The pick of the tournament so far was jervisjames being the ONLY player to pick Rochus to make it to the quarterfinals. 4 other quarterfinalists were also minority picks (Becker, Querrey, Melzer, Kubot) and those who picked those four players also deserve a round of applause. Ironically jervis was not part of the minority on any of the other four players. His only other correct quarterfinalists were Isner, Raonic, and Stepanek, who almost everybody picked. Round 2 was a bit of a blowout for most players with people getting as few as TWO quarterfinalists correct (Isner and Raonic) and the Round 2 winners only correctly picked 5/8 quarterfinalists.

MID-MEMPHIS CIRCUIT LEADERBOARD

I'd just like to point out that the leaderboard at this point is almost negligible because Indians Wells and Miami are likely to be the determining factor in the top 10. For this reason, quitting the series after one bad tournament is a stupid idea. In addition you can still earn regular ranking points from each tournament.

HOW TO SEND PICKS

Just a couple rules to live by... its not complicated to please just make sure to not screw up :)

1. LAST NAMES ONLY!!! I understand that there may be more than one person with the same last name, but unless they are playing each other, I will know who you are talking about.

2. If your draw results in two qualifiers playing each other and qualifiers still have not been placed, YOU MUST PICK "QUALIFIER 1" OR "QUALIFIER 2". If you post anything other than those two, your pick will not be counted. NO EXCEPTIONS

3. Please no spaces between rounds in your draws. I will fix it, but I will be pissed off and updates will take longer (especially the first one)

4. I am going to be on vacation this week, so on some days updates will be either late, or the next day. To make up for it, I will make sure to make the leaderboard all colorful and pretty and shit like that :p

I think that's it. If anything else comes up, I'll address it then.
