Consecutive Grand Slam Tournaments Played (as of 2011 Wimbledon)
In 2004, Wayne Ferreira established an all-time men's record with 56 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments played.
Here are players who have not missed a Grand Slam tournament in the past 20 Slams (or better):
Player--Number--Streak Started
Roger Federer--48---2000 Australian Open
Feliciano Lopez--39--2002 Roland Garros
David Ferrer--37--2003 Australian Open
Fernando Verdasco--34--2003 Wimbledon
Tomas Berdych--33--2003 U.S. Open
Albert Montanes--30--2004 Wimbledon
Philipp Kohlschreiber--29--2004 U.S. Open

Novak Djokovic--28--2005 Australian Open
Guillermo Garcia-Lopez--28--2005 Australian Open
Stanislas Wawrinka--27--2005 Roland Garros
Federer will need to play through the 2014 Australian Open to better Ferreira's record.
In 2008, Ai Sugiyama established an all-time record (among men & women) with 62 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments played.
In 2008, Fabrice Santoro established an all-time men's record for total Grand Slam tournaments played (70 as of Australian Open 2010).
Here are the (male) players with the most Grand Slam tournaments played in the Open Era:

Michael Chang 57
Jimmy Connors 57
Wayne Ferreira 57

Re: Consecutive Grand Slam Tournaments Played (as of 2008 Wimbledon)
With Fab unlikely to still be playing after the end of the year it looks like just Ljubicic and Federer with the chance to play in every GS of this decade. Obviously they have had very different results.

Getting on the list & staying on it takes a combination of good health, keeping your ranking in the top 100, and some good luck. Ferreira surpassed Edberg to set the record & they obviously had much different results in majors. Hrbaty was the best chance among active players to pass Ferreira, but one injury did him in. Of the top five players on the "most consecutive weeks in the top 100" only one (Santoro) is on this list. The others (Moya, Grosjean, Hewitt, Ferrero) had injuries along the way that resulted in some absences.
Re: Consecutive Grand Slam Tournaments Played (as of 2009 Australian Open)
To equal Ferreira at 56, he'll have to play all 4 grand slams until and including 2013.
He'll be 32 then - his statements have suggested he's up to playing to this age. The body has to follow of course.
(I'm trying not to think of his possible GS win number now, as I let this sink in)
Tie Santoro for what? Federer is many years away from tying Santoro's record of 70 total (or Ferreira's record of 56 consecutive) major tournaments played.
