Marin will play only two grass tournaments but i'll open the thread, maybe it helps.
He is practically defending nothing, last year he lost in first round of Wimbledon and Queens isn't in his "best 18" tournaments so he can only gain points here.
Queens draw gave him some lenience and because of Djokovic's withdrawal Marin became 8th seed and is free in R1.
He can gain immediate ranking points only if he reaches the semis (means wins this part of the draw i posted), and if he reaches QF he'll put 45 pts in back-up if need be (he has many those already though).
Wimbledon is another story, each win there will be worth alot for him.
Playing against lefty he never played before is not easy. It took him time to adjust and cold and wet weather didn't help either. Marin always had problem in those conditions. Ball stays low and he's a big guy.
Best stats ever. If he can keep his serve at mid to high 60s he'll be hard to beat.
For past few months he has been playing a lot of doubles, for one reason, to improve and make him feel comfortable at the net. He needs to be there at every floater that comes his way. Too many times he was in charge of the point and lost it, due to not finishing it on the net, but waiting behind the baseline and letting the opponent go back to position and taking charge. All good!
- 9 unforced errors
- 14 aces
- 62% first serves in (83% pts won on it)
- broke opponent 5 times, lost serve once (faced only 1 BP in match)
- 34 winners (these include aces)
- 8/8 net approaches
So, Querrey again. He allready beat him at Wimbledon. He is 2:0 H2H vs him. Both times they played on grass and both times were tough. It will be this time, too.
Pitty he isn't in Nadal's quater, he coud make quaters easily. Or in Tipsarevic's one.
