(WARNING: Troll story ahead. )

Once upon a time, there was a player named Andy Murray. He was one of the best, but there is one problem -- he is very underwhelming on Clay. One day, during his defeat against future Roland Garros winner Santiago Giraldo on Madrid 2014, the Fates of Tennis decided: "it is disappointing that a player like him, touted to be one of the Big Four, is very underwhelming on clay.". One of the fates said: "hmmm...how could we help him?". After a few moments, the second fate had an idea: "what if we give him the power to accomplish more on clay this year, so he can't be said as a clay mug?". All the fates agree, but the third fate remembered: "wait, we can't just put clay power on him without any source." They all still pondered about it. The first fate had an idea: "what if we remove Stan Wawrinka's clay power -- he won MC lately, and using it for now wouldn't hurt". The second fate then said: "OK. So, where would we put Andy's grass power?". The third fate then said: "what if we just put Grassray to Wawrinka, and call it Grasswrinka?" All of the fates agreed.

Now, Grassray turned to Clayray, while Wawrinka turned to Grasswrinka. While Wawrinka was defeated early on in Rome and RG, Murray prospered by reaching the Quarterfinals on Rome (breadsticking Nadal on the first Set and almost winning the third) and reaching the Semifinals in Roland Garros (beating Dusseldorf winner Kohlschreiber and former Semifinalist and crowd favorite Gael Monfils, serving a breadstick and a bagel along the way).

However, this toying by the fates had made an adverse effect on Murray -- after having a good grass streak since his Olympic Gold win, he sadly lost the 3rd Round of Queen's Club. However, for some reason, Wawrinka reached the Quarterfinals at Queen's Club for the 1st time, defeating former champion Sam Querrey along the way with just a loss of 4 games. Wawrinka is pleased, but possibly baffled by this. The both doesn't know that the fates are just playing with their games, such is the fate of how chaotic 2014 was. And thus is the story of how Clayray 2014 and Grasswrinka 2014 was born.

(End troll.)

Anyway, back to the regularly scheduled analysis. Wawrinka seemed to still having problems on grass on his movement, but seemed to play the right tactics this time: just slice the ball low and hope Querrey gives an error. His serve has been doing well here, relieving much pressure. Querrey didn't help with 4 DFs though in total and had a low 1st serve %. I hope Stan just keeps it up as best as he can as it is his first QF since his Monte Carlo run.

Anyway, glad to see Stan start winning again, he's still a top 3 no matter what.

great win for stan but im not handing him the title just yet. id favor berdych over him on grass and he'll have a very hard time with dolgopolov/dimitrov in the semis too.

Berdych lately has a mental block it seems against Stan. Berdych played sub-par against Gulbis on a Slam again (while Gulbis played well), so who knows. I agree about Dolgopolov and Dimitrov being dangerous too.
