FORMER BNP PARIBAS OPEN CHAMPIONS WITH A TOTAL OF 44 GRAND SLAM SINGLES TITLES WILL “HIT FOR HAITI” TO RAISE AN EXPECTED MINIMUM OF $1 MILLION
Event Will Feature Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal;
American Red Cross Haitian Relief Efforts to Benefit
Indian Wells, Calif., February 18, 2010 – The BNP Paribas Open, the most attended tennis tournament in the world outside of the four major events, to be held March 8-21, 2010, will hold a “Hit For Haiti” exhibition on the evening of Friday, March 12, that will feature former BNP Paribas Open champions with a combined total of 44 Grand Slam singles titles, and is expected to raise a minimum of $1 Million for Haiti relief efforts, it was announced today by Steve Simon, tournament director.
Larry Ellison, who recently purchased the tournament, decided to coordinate a second Hit for Haiti exhibition after seeing the success it had at the Australian Open, where hundreds of thousands of dollars were raised for Haiti relief efforts. The event will feature 44 Grand Slam titles on the same court with Roger Federer and Pete Sampras playing Rafael Nadal and Andre Agassi. The event will be broadcast live on the Tennis Channel beginning at 7:30 PM PST.
The net proceeds from ticket sales to this session will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti. Fans will also be able to donate to the relief effort through text messages and on-site contributions throughout the evening and event. In addition to these fund-raising efforts, Ellison will make a personal donation to this very special cause.
“When I saw the first Hit for Haiti event in Australia, I was very moved by the players coming together, on the eve of an important tournament, for such a worthy cause,” said Ellison. “I wanted to bring together an exceptional group of players, with an unprecedented amount of Grand Slam titles, at the BNP Paribas Open. Our goal is to leave a memorable impression on fans, while raising a substantial amount of money that will directly impact the needs of people in Haiti.”
In addition to the exhibition, the evening will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the annual Salute to Heroes ceremony, where the tournament will recognize veterans, military personnel, police, firemen and women, and Red Cross volunteers on Stadium Court for their efforts in the community and around the world. The ceremony and tennis exhibition will be followed by one main draw match.
For more information about the BNP Paribas Open, or to purchase tickets and travel packages, visit www.bnpparibasopen.org, call 800-999-1585 or 760-200-8000, or visit the box office, 78-200 Miles Avenue, Indian Wells, CA, 92210.

Andre Agassi Prepares for Comeback at French Open!
Saturday, 6 February 2010

http://www.thespoof.com/news/spoof.c...dline=s6i68451

Tennis fans everywhere are salivating at the latest rumor that Andre Agassi is planning
to come out of retirement in time for the French Open. Sources in Las Vegas close to
the Agassi home complex claim to have seen Agassi training with former coach
Brad Gilbert in tow.

"I was climbing the wall to their compound and actually fell and broke my arm," said
the source on condition of anonymity (Guido Mariano),"but before I fell I sees Agassi
blasting balls at card board cut-outs of Nadal, Federer, Sampras, Connors, Roddick and
Murray. Just knocking them down and Gilberts running to stand them back up! Please
don't make me climb back up there again..."

Other sources have Agassi entering several small, little known satellite clay
tournaments in Afghanistan, Iran, then African tourneys in Somalia, Rhodesia and
Sudan. Agassi's spokes person refused to comment on our questions and then became very rude,
claiming that we had tried to break into their compound, a ridiculous claim.

Your chance to quiz tennis greats Agassi and Graf(

May 12, 2010 -- Updated 1541 GMT (2341 HKT)(CNN)

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
Your chance to quiz tennis legends, Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi
The golden couple of tennis have won 30 grand slam singles titles between them
CNN's Candy Reid will interview the pair on May 19 -- just add your question

-- What does it feel like to lift a grand slam title ? Who are the best players you have shared a court with ? Do you miss the thrill of competition and would you ever be tempted into a comeback ? What could be done to improve modern tennis ?

On Wednesday May 19, CNN's World Sport Anchor Candy Reid will interview husband and wife tennis legends Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf in Las Vegas and it will be your chance to pose questions like these, and others of your own.

It's a simple process, just add your question to the bottom of this page.

And you could hardly be seeking answers from a more authoritative source, with Graf and Agassi winning no less than 30 grand slam singles titles between them.

Germany's Graf was women's world number one for a record 377 weeks and dominated for much of the 1990s until her retirement at the end of the decade.

She won 107 career title, including 22 grand slam triumphs, plus a gold medal in the singles at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.

Graf's most potent weapon was a blistering forehand, which allied to a strong service and crisp volleying skills made her a formidable opponent to the likes of Martina Navratilova and Monica Seles with whom she shared intense rivalry.

After her retirement, she married Agassi in 2001 with whom she has two children, Jaden Gil and Jaz Elle.

Agassi, who was born in Las Vegas, was earmarked for stardom from a tender age and his charismatic approach and on-court appearance quickly won him a huge following when he burst to prominence in the late 1980s.

He won his first grand slam title at Wimbledon in 1992 and claimed eight in total, completing a grand slam of the four majors with victory at the 1999 French Open.

Like his wife, Agassi also reached world number one and secured Olympic singles gold in Barcelona in 1992.

He retired in 2006 but made the headlines again last year with the publication of his explosive autobiography "Open" in which he admitted failing a drugs test in 1997, but said it came at a period when his personal life was in turmoil.

Agassi also claimed he "hated" tennis because of the pressure exerted on him by his father in his formative years.

He is now rarely seen on court, bar an occasional appearance on a seniors circuit or charity tournaments.

But Agassi and Graf did pair up last year to play in a special mixed doubles match against Tim Henman and Kim Clijsters to christen the new roof at Wimbledon.

Now it is your chance to get the views of two of the all-time greats of tennis.

Sampras-Agassi three games in Latin America

The former American tennis players Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras made an exhibition match on 22 May at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose M. Agrelot, where the first will begin his ‘Farewell Tour’ in 2010, organizers said.

The entrepreneur also indicated that it will be the first time this coliseum arrange a tennis match since opening in 2004.

The Coliseum has performed some of the biggest stars, including Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Santana, aion items us, Juan Luis Guerra, Ricky, Martin, Usher, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Aventura, among others.
