Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
Silly to play qualifying for Dubai and risk 0 points, when he could play Delray or even Acapulco with easier draws, and get points and wins.

Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
He was meant to play Dick Norman in QR1, but Norman is playing Vemic at the moment. Simone was first alternate so I'm guessing he got in the main draw? Didn't find any confirmation yet though.

Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
Against the number 333 It's for the best he won that one. Recouderc next.

Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
He lost 6-3 6-2 today to Recouderc. It was a pretty sad performance.

Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
Lost in the semifinal in Barletta of Pere Riba, 3-6 6-0 2-6. At least he won some consecutive matches, but he struggled holding serve match after match.
Napoli next week, where he'll face Kukushkin in the first round.

Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
Simone had a terrible match against Ferrer and was likely going to be double bageled but he qualified and made the 3rd round of Barcelona, which is 55 points for Simone, and he likely will get a WC for Rome. Hopefully, this is the start of a comeback to form for Simone, since he doesn't have anything more than 45 points to defend in an event for the rest of the year. He can get in the top 100 for US Open direct entry, hope he can do it!

Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
Simone had a second round performance in Rome as a WC, beating Greul and should have won the first set at least over Verdasco and choked badly and lost in a tiebreak and eventually 6-7(11) 3-6. He gained 11 positions in the rankings and is at 113 now, but has 45 points to defend at Madrid next week, so that could be going down again.
Simone is with the Italian Davis cup team preparing to play the Dutch in the Netherlands on indoor hard starting on Friday. Here is the order of play:
R1 - T.DE BAKKER (NED) v. S.BOLELLI (ITA)
R2 - R.HAASE (NED) v. P.STARACE (ITA)
R3 - J.HUTA GALUNG / I.SIJSLING (NED) v. D.BRACCIALI / P.LORENZI (ITA)
R4 - T.DE BAKKER (NED) v. P.STARACE (ITA)
R5 - R.HAASE (NED) v. S.BOLELLI (ITA)
It is going to be very tough for Simone to beat De Bakker but if he can keep a competitive score it will hopefully help his confidence going forward in a potential 5th rubber with Haase.
Next week he is scheduled to play in Biella, Italy, then RG qualifying, and if he fails to qualify he will play the Alessandria challenger in Italy, so hopefully Simo performs well these next weeks and gets back in the top 100 where he belongs!

Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
Simone won his match in an upset vs. De Bakker 7-6 (5) 7-6 (5) 6-3! He played aggressive, served well, and kept his composure when he needed to during the match. I never expected him to win in straight sets on indoor hard playing someone in their home country whose been playing great, so impressive, and the boost of confidence he will get with this win could drive him to even better things in his personal career!
Potito won his match in 4 sets over Haase and Italy is ahead 2-0 after the first day of competition! Good luck in the doubles tomorrow and the entire Italian team that they can win this tie!!!

Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
Simone and Potito served as replacements in the doubles rubber for Lorenzi/Bracciali and won 6-4 3-6 7-6(5) 6-4 to win the tie for Italy 3-0!!! Simone really came up big this weekend and played 2 great matches for his country. Hopefully he uses this Davis Cup as a jump start for his own career. His confidence on court is visibly growing and will continue to do so the more he wins.
Congrats Simone and the rest of the Italian team!

Re: Simone Bolelli aka Superbol
Simone is playing in Biella this upcoming week, here the the draw:
http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2010/6125/mds.pdf
He's playing Igor Sijsling in the first round, pretty tough but very winnable. Simone really should make the semifinals with his draw and have no issues.
Good luck Simone and hopefully he goes deep in the draw!
