I still think it's disappointing, also for the points and his confidence. He has to believe he can do damage on the ATP-tour. Let's hope he does well in qualis for MC.

according to john john's reports he played well against ventura

Ventura was actually a very good draw, one of the best 1st round he could have. Zverev wasn't too hard either. He should really win those matches on clay by now if he wants to go further. But good he deliverd this time. 35 points in the pocket and a decent chance against Benneteau who's been in bad form lately.

Benneteau is beatable for sure, but I'm not getting my hopes up. The match practice on this level is more important, and a win would only garner him 10 extra points anyway.

No, 35 points extra. First round is 10 points, 2nd round 45. Plus the 25 quali-points.
