I understand. I am not one of those advocating playing through pain. When I referred to the match being special, I thought more about the athmosphere.

Yes, and I was not impressed, he has the worst serve I've ever seen on the tour, incredible! No wonder Gilles was breaking him like crazy in Lyon. I still have no idea how Stan managed to lose to him in straight sets.

I read he had a severe accident when he was a teenager, and has lost a part of his arm's mobility...

Marat, I miss him already  , wish him a good life, but hope that he gets bored of having a life soon and comes back to the tour.
My 2 favorites Nole & Gilles having a laugh together  .
Thanks Fran, for the story and the portraits. I'm still amazed how it seems that all prof. photographers have difficulty capturing Gilles' good side, but the fans have no problems. Maybe it's Gilles, he's no good in posing for pictures. |

For most of the match he wasn't in pain and playing like a god  It's worth watching, I'm doing highlights, but I was so hoping you'd be there to see it! Hope you had a good time!  |
