Livestream was frozen so i just watched first set a little bit. He called the doctor and had a medical timeout because of wrist injury. He couldn't play well but i don't know what happened after first set.

He struggled during second - I was afraid the wrist injury would get worse - he should have stopped earlier.

thank you ezgi, I hope it's nothing serious. I will be utterly dissappointed if he misses Paris

Re: The end of the line : the european indoor season.
I didn't see the injury timeout coz I watched from midway through the second set. Anyway as i didn't know he was injured I thought he had gone nuts because from what i saw on a v choppy live stream he kept going for HUGE DTL backhand winners from inside and outside the baseline and missing by country miles Serve was quite poor and I really don't think that his head was in it at this point . Got broken in the first service game of the 3rd after having game point . Sat down at the changeover, pulled a lot of faces (the usual frowning, sticking tongue out, rolling his head etc.etc.) and then retired
I wish he hadn't injured himself. Had a golden opportunity to gain points for WTF No matter I just hope he can defend Paris.

You're welcome.
He played a lot of tournaments lately. I hope he'll be healthy until Paris.

Re: The end of the line : the european indoor season.
Really sorry, Jo Hope that the wrist injury is not too serious, and that he can finish the year on a high in front of his home crowd in Paris. The WTF qualification looks doubtful, but with everyone else suffering year-end injuries and fatigue, anything is possible.
This year, it's been wonderful seeing him play a full season, with its highs and lows, joys and disappointments. As long as he's healthy in 2010 and beyond, I don't mind the occasional early round defeats - as long as he never loses the passion for the game and that he stays around for a very long time.

I don't know it's true or not but a Turkish tennis site said that his injury wasn't serious. He didn't want to risk Paris and he retired.

Re: The end of the line : the european indoor season.
There is also an article in L'Equipe about the retirement. It asks "Is it a simple precaution right before Bercy (Paris) or is the injury more serious? The answer next week." So not really news.
