The kids see someone like Nadal at the top of the sport and think all they need is powerful groundies, then it's a shock for them when they lose every match because they hit 20 double faults and can't volley.
So true.

I didn't personally play him, but a friend of mine actually played a kid with one arm once. Served with one arm and everything. The kid was actually a pretty good player, and had an obvious love for the sport to keep going.

I played a young kid who had to have ADHD. When the kid served a ball into the net, he would run up to the net, remove the ball, then sprint back to the baseline to serve. He also kept complaining that he wanted his mom to "scoot away". Also, in the warm-ups, I took my jacket over to my bag, and he said hey we are still warming up.

I played a kid who commentated our match from a 3rd person point of view.

There was also a match with a guy dressed as a pirate (no it wasn't Halloween.)

There was one guy that had switched to a new type of racquet, so everytime he got pissed during a game he'd walk over and take out his old racquets and break them. He went through 6 of the old style and 2 of the new style (I guess he couldn't stop.) lol

Played a couple of days ago against a pretty weird opponent. He's a top table tennis player here in Finland and played the part... Lots of slicing off both wings, constantly gave me different ball. It was pretty tiring mentally and physically, having to concentrate 110% on each shot, keeping eyes firmly on ball and bending the knees in case of a low bounce. Our match ended in a draw (our time ran out), with me leading 7-6. I was up a break a couple of times but he managed to bounce back if I had even a momentary lapse in concentration. I also managed to come back after a break once.

Good thing I played alright, not great but alright, since if I had had a bad day, I would've self-destructed probably.

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.
Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal

There was this guy that I remember playing in the USTA southwest circuit quite as often as I did. He would moonball every single shot whenever he was down, even by one point. He would always look up to make sure where the sun was to make you stare into it. And then at the end of every match when he was about to lose he will lie to your face and say your serve was out when it was CLEARLY in by a foot. I mean it was so bad that the small crowds that would form from watching other matches would see it and even boo. I mean this is back when I was playing 16s in a minor tourny. So I would always get into an argument with him about it and tell him hes a liar and he would always be like, well that is my call and that is what I saw. So I always had to get a damn 80 year old female referee who is wearing super dark sunglasses and can't turn her head fast enough to watch a rally.
