Re: Calendar for 2009?
No Barcelona. It's a 500 event on his favourite surface, I thought he would play it.

Re: Calendar for 2009?
It is the week between Monte Carlo and Rome, it could be a reason why it will not play in Barcelona.
Fran, do you know which tournaments will it play on clay apart the masters 1000?

Re: Calendar for 2009?
Either players will take it more seriously this year because they now get ATP points for it - and then it means he will play an event the week before RG although he's been saying everywhere he won't do this anymore this year.
Or they still won't care and it remains of those pointless exhibition events, why not rather practice on the RG courts?
I find it a strange decision, but well, it's one of the few tennis events with TV coverage here, so it's fine for me if he plays there!

Re: Calendar for 2009?
Surprising, he said in an interview last week that he will not played any tournaments before the masters 1000 and slam tournaments. It looks he changes his mind or it is just for fun with jo.
Is someone know how does this tournaments works? country against country?

Re: Calendar for 2009?
Maybe it will be different now with the ATP points, but only the Chileans and the Germans used to take it seriously, the others couldn't care less.
There are two groups of 4 countries playing against each other. 2 singles and one doubles in each match. The countries have more than 2 players so they don't need to play everyday.
Then the best countries play the final (maybe there are semi-finals too, I don't remember), but since the final takes place during the week-end and RG starts on Sunday already, the top players don't try tooooo hard to qualify for it.
I guess you get DSF in Austria too, so imagine the usual DSF hopeless commentary and non-stop commercials in top of that... A highlight of the tennis season.

Re: Calendar for 2009?
"Deutsches Sportfernsehen". If you can pick it up where you live, I recommend it, it's unique.
They show bits of Wimbledon, the WTC in Düsselfdorf, the Davis Cup ties of the German team... You have to really pay attention to catch the tennis coverage between all the commercials, though.

Returning could mean a lot of things - returning after winning the title last year (Gilles!!!) or returning after not having played for a few years (someone else I don't care nearly as much about). I hope it's not that they're making a big deal about Taylor Dent or someone like that returning.

Alli I think is Andy (Rod) because he had already decided to play at Indy this year.....
I think

They're trying to create a buzz with it by telling people in advance that they'll announce it when daily tickets go on sale on Thursday.
