Warm up with someone you know it'll help you relax. Bring extra socks, a second shirt, and a little snack, and don't forget to hydrate.
Enjoy yourself and good luck!

Hit tons of serves in the warm up. If one shot is going to break down through nerves, it's most likely to be the serve, so make sure you feel confident at hitting your spots.

Be confident going out, lead the conversation against the person you play, if you end up talking to them.

Don't be afraid to call the ball out.

Play hard.

Warm-Up before.

Have fun.

Kick some but.

There's a really good article on "Preparing for your first Tournament" in the Tips section:

Wish me luck, guys. I embark tomorrow on my first tournament in two years (had to take a little break, you know...to have a ). It's mixed, with a long-time partner...and we're pysched...even though we're playing "up". We're a 7.5 combo/team playing in the 8.0 field but we're gonna give our all!

Thanks, Smasher. Match over. We're now in the consolation round.

We played OK but I was definitely rusty. I like the looks the remaining draw though so I think we've still got a few more matches to play.

my best advice when it comes to playing a tournament is win. as long as you do that, it should be easy

We tried. Gave it a good go actually. Made it to the semis before running into a steamroller. Ugly playing from me and my normally very solid partner and an ugly scoreline. But we had fun and will probably play in it again next year.

Ditto on the warm up advice. Find an unused court, even at another park, and warmup an hour before your match. It will help you relax and feel more confidant.

Most importantly, have fun. That's what you're there for. I quit playing tournaments because I forgot how to have fun with them, and I regret it.
