I'm not surprised. Agassi used to really hit through his shots during the warm-up, especially against rookie players to try and intimidate them.

Yep. I laughed aloud when I read about it in "Winning Ugly" too...although my friend/partner had me doing it before. Wouldn't be surprised if that's where he picked it up.

Love the title of the book. It's inspired our team's adage for mishits: Ugly...but Over.

My pathetic attempts at overhead smashes provide good comedy for my opponents. I've lost count of the number of times that I've reliquinshed control of a point and allowed my opponent back into it with a very weak overhead.

Haha, I can relate to you on that one!

I've more or less given up going for the Hollywood big smash now unless it's unmissable. I use the slice smash quite a lot, not macho but it's easier to execute and at the very least if you don't win the point outright you get your opponent way out of positino with it.
