They're also searching a "big name" to give him a WC. They were in discussion with Murray but now it's more expansive than 2 weeks ago

I read the Murray story too, the tournament director says they contacted Murray a few weeks ago because they had noticed he was not playing anywhere during that week, so they started to negotiate and he says Murray was not asking so much for a top player.
Of course now they would have to pay him way too much (even some of the best French players are too expensive for Metz).
But he's not complaining about Murray being too greedy now, he rather says Murray was not a couple of weeks ago.

That could have been very good move by the tournament director.
Luxembourg is some 40 km away from Metz, I am sure that Gilles should have felt as home there.
