I'd say that all of their qualy choices (and MD draw) are deserving of their spots.

Chip, I understand the USTA is there to support American tennis. I actually think it's a shame that most of the college tennis programs are dominated by foreign players. However, in the case of Devvarman, I think he did so much for college tennis in his four years. His accomplishments put him with the all time greats, and he's gotten off to a pretty torrid start in his pro career. Hell, the LTA finally stopped giving all their wild cards to Brits. Granted they have a lot less to choose from. Just thought this was an exceptional circumstance and that he had done more than enough to deserve it. In the end, it really doesn't matter too much. If he belongs he'll probably make his way through the qualies. May prove to be beneficial. Let him get used to the courts in match situations.

Re: Qualifying Entry List (updated August 18, 2008)
Maybe they think it's a waist because they have so much faith in him in the qualys.

Re: Wild Cards
Somdev and Dent should have received a WC instead of some American mugs who already proved themselves to be useless (Jenkins and Warburg for example).
