US hardcourt season 2008
don't really know what tournaments he will be playing, thanks to his shocking ranking for a few weeks. the first one he's committed to is qualifying at toronto masters, july 21.
he may enter new haven (week after olympics) direct as the entry list has not come out. but then again, maybe he's hoping for great things in beijing, and will not play until at the us open the week after new haven.
that's my brief introduction

Thanks...I saw he wasn't entered in any US tournaments (does Toronto count?), but after "Coach Nolwenn" said, "Après les vacances, il va pouvoir attaquer la tournée américaine avec beaucoup d'envie. La machine est relancée !", I was hopeful!

Re: US hardcourt season 2008
Wish he would get here for the us open tour, he could really turn his season around even more. I understand that the olympics is first priority for him though

Indeed, He's on the Qualifying list of Cincinnati and on the direct entry list of New Haven.
Hope he'll doing well in these tough and uncertain qualifying rounds and for New Haven, Beijing's results will decide !

no, because they won't have to play "just" for bronze
your sister is very lucky !

realistically... any medal should be welcome!
news update: arnaud is now confirmed in toronto's qualie draw. in order to qualify, he will have to get through this group
5 CLEMENT, Arnaud FRA
6 MARCHENKO, Ilia UKR
7 POKRAJAC, Milan CAN
8 FALLA, Alejandro COL
not the most threatening names... not many better players outside the cut-off want to try their luck at qualifying. he'd better make it through

Re: US hardcourt season 2008
A weak qualifying field in Toronto !
If Marchenko doesn't seem to be a threatening player, Falla is not the easiest to beat ! Which Arnaud will be on court? The one of Wimbledon or an other ?

Re: US hardcourt season 2008
Good victory over Marchenko 6-4 6-0 although according to the statistics it took Arnaud almost 1.5 hours. And the next opponent is indeed Falla. But isn't he a claycourter?

Re: US hardcourt season 2008
looks like sunday's matches had been rained out... but i can't really find info anywhere, nor can i find any quali match schedule for monday
arnaud and micka are playing doubles though and will be on court monday. i think they're playing roddick and fish? too many players are trying to get their hard court form quick

Re: US hardcourt season 2008
Seems it wasn't easy but fortunately Arnaud did it 5-7 6-3 6-2. Now let's hope they won't place him vs Simon. Or Cilic

Re: US hardcourt season 2008
he's in the draw at a Q v Q slot... guess who is the other qualifier? none other than bjorkman luckily our man is mean and nasty and he won't hesitate to kill him a second time, if he can.

Re: US hardcourt season 2008
M Fish (USA) / A Roddick (USA) d A Clement (FRA) / M Llodra (FRA) 76(6) 62
Doesn't seem fair that Arnaud and Mika both had singles matches today also.

Re: US hardcourt season 2008
oh dear, i didn't see that match result at all this morning.
as for having both singles and doubles... that couldn't be helped when the schedule had been threatened by rain (also the fact that they aren't top players)
