Re: Paul Goldstein
Paul won the Forest Hills challenger. A walk over which is a lousy way to win but a win none the less.

Re: Paul Goldstein
And soon (or maybe already?) he will be a daddy. He's going to make a wonderful father.

Re: Paul Goldstein
Paul's one of my old favourites. I have only seen him play once or twice, but have always enjoyed to see him doing well in tournaments.

Re: Paul Goldstein
Well, Paul just lost to Blake in LA, 6-0 1-6 7-5, and he had a MP.

Yep, Paul had his daughter now
A good win over Garcia this week, and tough luck against Blake.

Re: Paul Goldstein
Has Paul retired?? In the AO Features they're doing on TTC, his little label is "Former ATP Pro"

Re: Paul Goldstein
I hadn't heard that he was going to... but now that he's a daddy.
I hope he hasn't.

Re: Paul Goldstein
Maybe the show was produced by the same people who got all the player names wrong for the ATP university bit?
I saw Paul oh so briefly in October at the Sacramento Challenger. We didn't speak, he just waved at me across the room and when I went back to find him, he was gone. At the time, he was nursing a hip injury. Let me ask around and see if I can get any news.

Re: Paul Goldstein
So have you found anything out?
I'll be devastated if he retired. My favorites shouldn't be allowed to do that.

Re: Paul Goldstein
I searched around and didn't find anything in any news anywhere But the fact that he's not playing any events even in the US isn't encouraging
There's a couple articles about a charity event he's doing with some other players this weekend in Ohio, but they don't mention him as being retired
edit: found this from last summer http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...8/ai_n19488807

Re: Paul Goldstein
Yeah, he did officially. Here is the blurb from the ATP Player's Weekly, dated Feb 11, 2008:
Paul Goldstein announced his retirement from professional tennis last week. Paul will start working with a clean energy company in the San Francisco Bay Area. He reached a career high No. 58 in singles (Apr 2006) and No. 40 in doubles (Feb 2007). Paul has served in the Player Council since July 2006.
It's a shame that he has not gotten more press for this, he was a good player and he's a very decent man.
