Not only the shadowing.
If you look at the photo more carefully, you'll see that even the scales don't fit. Stan is in a different scale to the landscape's that surrounds him.

It didn't look fake to me either it just looks like the photographer used a strong flash and was a bit overzealous with the Sharpening option in Photoshop, but when I looked at the picture I didn't think that Stan was superimposed onto the background.

Well, the photographer is Benjamin S, a sport photographer for a Swiss news paper.. 
But, looking more carefully at the pic, I also think it is weird.. |
