Re: Who is going?
I'll try to go for some of the qualies.
Hopefully it's not so insanely hot and humid like it was yesterday.

Re: Who is going?
I am most definetly going on the first day I have the past 3 years. Ground passes are so great for the first week of the tournament.

Questions about facilities - U.S. Open
Here's a question for anyone who has attended the U.S. Open. Are there any cheap places near the National Tennis Center to eat? I am fortunate to be able to go this year, but do not want to pay $12 for a hamburger or $8 for a soda.
Also, is it possible to get away with "upgrading" your seats in Ashe or Armstrong when there's a late afternoon match and most of the spectators in the lower level of the stadium has left?
Thanks for your suggestions.

Re: U.S. Open
There are probably some in Koreatown but it's a bit of a walk. I certainly wouldn't bother and there is enough variety at the Food COurt that you can get something other then a hamburger for $12. And bottled water is only $5 and better for you.
I usually throw some peanut butter crackers in my bag or breakfast bars and so only get something late in the afternoon like a big salad before the night session crowd comes and it gets really crowded there.
You can bribe an usher in Ashe but it will cost you $50-100 depending on how low you want to go and at least for me the lowest I've ever gotten was right above the upper lux boxes. In Louie there is no need to. Only the first 10 rows or so (I believe) on one side of the court are reserved seats. The rest of the Louie is first come first serve.

Re: U.S. Open
One time I wandered off the grounds into a neighborhood and grabbed a couple of slices at a pizzeria. Just make sure you're packing some heat.

No sandwiches, but I brought in meal bars. Seriously, you can leave it's just not worth it there is nothing close by, at all. If you eat well before you leave then you will only need to buy one meal at the USO. Then just eat when you leave at night.

Yea, exactly...dude would you like someone to bring in a bomb or something. Um wait wait sorry I am dumb...you are allowed one sandwich and one bottle of water. I remember that was the rule from last year.
