If he gets good draws this summer and avoids the big hitters, he can gain some points but I don't expect that to happen.

I also don't think he will be in the Wimbledon final again, unless he gets a draw like last year.

You may be right about Indian Wells & Miami courts being slower & suiting Nadal`s game better

However don`t forget that in 2005 Nadal won Canada-TMS also
>>>So he`s proven he can adapt to faster hard courts as well..
Besides he`s even won a TMS on fast indoor [Madrid 05]..

Nadal is surely not the 2nd best player on grass, but his aura of a champion & his relentless playing style could well take Nadal to another Wimby final~~> & if his opponent in the final is anybody not named FEDERER then RAFA has a good chance of winning that too

***
This year the race to finish #1 is going to be very close
#FED made things difficult for himself by losing to Canas early at both IW & Miami TMS [there were 1000 points to defend there & he handed some freebies to Nadal ]..

Clay season is going to end soon.

I think Roger won't lose his no.1 spot to anyone this year.

Well, at least now we can conclude that Roger has scored more points during this clay season than during last year's clay season.

Well, the worst case scenario has arrived. The only difference is that he won 2 Masters and made 1 final, but he also won Barcelona.

Thank you for undating, BlueSwan.

Thankfully as Roger managed to win Hamburg and reach to the finals of MC and RG during clay season, he put himself in a better position to save his ranking. Otherwise, it would be a very very difficult task for him to catch up Nadal for the rest of the season. So I think this situation is not the worst. IMO, performing well at Wimbledon and USO will be a key. Also he should avoid to exit early in big tournaments(ala IW and Miami ).

I still believe that it will be virtually impossible for Nadal to ever go above 6500 points, meaning that if Roger can stay above that he'll remain #1.

If Roger manages to hold on to number one this year, I have little doubt he can do that for one year more - he would have so little to defend in IW and Miami next year...
